God Doesn't Vote: Why The Republicans Won

By Werner Reyneke
Nov. 4, 2004

This poor Ken Hughes, he just amuses me every time. I feel like a scientist observing a primitive insect species when I read his truly useless, but nonetheless amusing articles. He represents the archetypal intellectually challenged segment of America. He says in his article: “Let’s not pile on the losers” the following, “Mr. President you pulled this election off with Gods [vote] help.”

I didn’t know that God had the right to vote or that he would exercise a vote even if he was allowed to. So, by ‘wise’ Ken’s argument, any party or president who wins an election has the victory because of God’s help – I think this is an insult to God and other religious people, even though I’m an atheist. In other words, all those ‘evil’, tyrannical leaders in the world are also in the ruling position by God’s help!?

The implication of Ken’s screwed argument is hilarious. Ken’s God in other words, does not discriminate between good and bad; this God of Ken is surely quite blind then, as he ‘votes’ for both the humane (as if such a politician really exists) and the inhumane…how strange indeed. But Ken, I must congratulate you though for one thing: you illustrate by virtue of your ‘voting God’ argument that God is indeed no God at all.

And here is the reason why Bush, the apt representative of Republicans won the election: Bush and all Republicans are idiots, and because the majority of Americans, or any country for that matter, is an idiotic lot, it’s only natural that an idiotic president will come out the victor!

Perhaps, now that I think of it, God did intervene in the election process, after all, God is just human. Maybe Bush bribed him or something…who knows? I mean, God works in mysterious ways as that great book, the Bible says….yes, you heard correctly, the intelligent atheist also think the Bible is a great book as it gives exhaustive insight into the mysterious inner workings of the dull mind – it explains why the world is in such chaos: God created mostly idiots. Fortunately, and I thank God for that, he slipped up a bit when it came to me and a few other intelligent people.

However, one thing about America that I am truly thankful for; it is a country where free speech rules! Just look at some of the articles I write on Useless-knowledge - a lot of them are downright blasphemous, irreverent and impertinent, but I am sincerely thankful to this vital principle of the American establishment of free speech! In South Africa where I live they would have surely crucified me for my audacity! Long live freedom and the great country of America!
