White Noise

By Rachelle Ann Ramos
Nov. 2, 2004

White noise has always intrigued me. What is white noise? How can you describe what it sounds like? White noise to many of us is just the static rushing sound when the television is broken or your pirate satellite disk is out of range. But what if the only place you hear white noise is in your mind. As I have experienced way- back-when I was questioning my sanity in my depressed age, I’d hear white noise. That infinite buzzing in the back of your mind. Eventually I regained my surety of sanity and eventually began writing. And now I have all the time in the world to ponder about white noise. White noise, I believe that’s what crazy people or sociopath hear when they look down the barrel of a gun. Other times it’s the sound of absolute calm and peace. Or that white static can be the place where you know you have reached the end of it all.

White Noise

It's 3:17, morning
No one awake but me...
I feel so tired and empty
In my head I’m wide awake

But my body is just so tired
A ying and yang, my mind and body
Alert yet tired
Asleep with open eyes

My mind is fuzzy and numb
Senses are fading
Half awake, half...
All i can hear is white noise

A comforting sound
A sound of a dreamless sleep
Quiet noises
White noises in the back of my mind

About the author Rachelle Ann Ramos: I'm attempting to be an author, at any age writing a book is an amazing feat. But I bet it's harder when your just a highschool freshmen. I have always dreamed about being an author of an inspiring book in which teenagers can relate to. I certainly hope I can get through this let alone highschool.
