May 10, 2004 Well I'm still sitting up on my little patch of rock up in the Colorado Rockies and the fish aren't biting much so can't make nobody mad. This darned flower I was looking at keeps looking back at me. Now I'm one for words let me tell you but my tounge sucked right to the back of my throat as I looked at it. Being one that never had much interest in poetry I found that this particular situation couldn't be explained in any other fashion. Well I guess I just found out now why people write that darned stuff. It was just sitting there, a flower in its bloom oh what a sight! The silvery moon shined upon it, the blessed lamp of the night. On a cliff, so treacherous, I thought how beautiful it can be. As if sitting on a pedestal, as boldly as the aspen trees. Winds flowing, petals swaying as if trying to say, "Look at me, admire my beauty, I'm in bloom through night and day." Oh how I wanted it, to admire it, to be my very own. Alas I dare not pluck it, its stem must stay in the barren stone. It is the nakedness in its surroundings that gives to its beauty, not that of its own. It would be just another flower if plucked and taken home. Now I have my tounge back since I figured out a way to say what had to be said about that darned thing. Guess poetry isn't so bad after all. Well going to sit back on my rock up here at 8000 ft and watch all of you below me. Until next time. ------------ About the author Chris Wills: Self-employed private investigator with a background in law enforcement and military.
