No More Liberal Lies!
June 30, 2004

Ever wonder why liberals seem to see every pronouncment out of the White House as a lie? Did you ever hear of the terms transferrence or projection? That's the real explanation, in my opinion. Since their beloved Bill Clinton was an inveterate liar, they seem to assume that payback REQUIRES that they label his successor so. Otherwise, Clinton's lying will become his only "legacy" as president. Sorry to disillusion anyone, but lying IS his only legacy. In short, it's too late, folks. He's made his own bed. Now he's got to lie in it (you should excuse the expression.)

Projection is another matter. Since, if they were in the position of power, THEY'D be lying about what they're doing, (after all, the unwashed masses don't need to know all the facts) then President Bush and his administration MUST be lying, too. In other words, they project, or impute, THEIR motives or behavior in similar circumstances to the one who is actually IN authority now. I once had a city councilman do the same thing to me many years ago when I was a city employee. I had control of a quarter- million-dollar budget at the time, and this guy, apparently realizing that if HE were in my position he'd be stealing the city blind, assumed that I must be too. I'll give him this, though; when he found out that I had NOT done anything even remotely unethical or illegal, he came to me and apologized for questioning my integrity.

Liberals are very good at both these things, it seems. Maybe what they're best at is denial, though. Despite everything that Congress and conservative talk radio was able to do, liberals have maintained the absolute fiction that Bill Clinton was impeached over a sexual affair. I can think of little about the man that interests me less than his sex life--even though his continual adulterous affairs titillated (again, pardon) the public's interest for much of his tenure and was fairly indicative of his disdain for his marriage vows. If he ignored THOSE vows, one was tempted to ask, it isn't much of a stretch to believe that he'd also ignore his oath of office.

That aside, liberals are NOT stupid. They ARE, however, full of well-hidden (even from themselves) feelings of superiority over those they profess to "care" most about. To a liberal, "caring" about a problem is virtually the same thing as actually SOLVING it. They judge people (especially each other) based on how well they project an aura of "caring." Otherwise, why those little red, pink and lavender ribbons at all those Hollywood events? One sometimes suspects that if liberals would just donate the money spent on such nonsense, AIDS might actually be cured, by now, breast cancer a thing of the past, and gays would be fully-integrated into mainstream society. They behave similarly in matters concerning the environment. Most are wont to attend "environmental rallies" riding in a llmosine that gets 5 or 6 miles-per-gallon, wear gowns or tuxes that cost as much as the gross national product of Guatemala and bedeck themselves with jewelry made from gemstones that cost some poor miner in Lesotho or Brazil a large chunk of his life expectancy to procure. They put on a great show of "caring" for environmental causes--sometimes donating their time to do PSAs or to testify before Congressional committees or even to give speeches as some university before an audience of unwary and unsuspecting kids who are there getting their daily dose of indoctrination in liberal orthodoxy anyway, so what the heck. What we're seldom told is that these people eat up more natural resources in a single week of their lives of privilege than most of us do in a lifetime--not for a minute that I begrudge them their privilege, wealth or fame. What I DO bemoan, however is the hypocrisy and out and out lies these people are living and projecting and even SAYING almost daily.

When Tim Robbins or Susan Sarandan makes one of their stupid remarks about how "evil" President Bush is and how much "he lied to the American people" about why we were fighting in Iraq, I want to crawl into a corner and barf my toenails up. For people such as these to criticize President Bush is, maybe the height of hypocrisy-- let alone irony. Ironic, because few of them are fit to shine his boots, let alone second-guess his decisions regarding national security.

In conclusion, I just wish the left would quit lying. It only serves to give aid and comfort to our enemies and is not "patriotic" as some have claimed. Dissent IS patriotic, but dissent that takes the form of honest debate and not rancorous, highly-publicized, screaming, poster- waving near-riots. If you want to defeat President Bush then do it honestly and by offering something better. So far, you haven't done so.
