Sometimes I Feel Like Spider-Man

By New Ghost Writer

Dear Diary,
I sometimes feel like Spider-Man myself or rather Peter Parker. Like Spider-Man when people need my help, but like Peter Parker, when in school – totally unwanted.

To some people, I am what Spider-Man is to Harry Osborne. Those people totally hate me. For instance, when I come online, they logoff. When I try to meet them to clear misunderstandings, they go away. Spider-Man was the only movie I could relate to for periods right from my childhood to the present. At school, people would treat me the same way they treat Peter Parker in school. I would not be given a seat in the bus or would end up being teased.

The other similarity I found was the “spider sense” thingy. I would get intuitions at lightning speed sometimes (touchwood.) I also realized that if I did not listen to it, something would terribly go wrong. The only problem is, I don't have superpowers like Spider-Man, which I wish I did. How cool it would be to get rid of all the obstacles standing in your way – like computer glitches before an assignment, avoiding people who do not like me by swinging from building-to-building, but being able to see them without getting noticed. Oh! How I wish I had those supercool superpowers.

My life has two sides to it – one is public and the other one, private. I would be in the same condition as Spider-Man is – having 2 completely different lives. Nevertheless, I do find sometimes either that there is a need to reveal my private life or that I would find it hard to keep it a secret. I would, at times, find a strength inside me – a kind of motivation to work toward my goals (a hero inside me), but the obstacles are too many. Some obstacles are people whose behavior is just like that of the Green Goblin's or even Dock Ock's, for that matter, dark and sinister. I do not wish to reveal who I think they are, as they would be deeply hurt if they find out. No matter how hard I try, I just get a feeling I am going nowhere.

It is true, I find, that “with great powers, comes great responsibility.” As I go for a higher education, it needs me to work harder. Sometimes, I feel that there is no credibility for the work you do. Even though you may have done something good, your work is looked down upon and people do not believe you. Sometimes, I find that happening to me. I would make some suggestions in groups for the good of everyone, keeping everyone in mind. Still, it would not be taken or the suggestion would be ignored. The same thing happens to Spider-Man in the movie. He does a lot of good, but Jonah Jameson, the Editor of a newspaper does not believe in the fact that Spider-Man is really good. And why is that? Because he is afraid that Spider-Man is getting more publicity than himself. This psychology, I find, works with most people in this world. They do not want anyone other than themselves to succeed. So, I feel that there is a Spider-Man or a Peter Parker somewhere inside all of us. We just got to explore ourselves and find out more about who we are, what we are capable of and what our limitations are. In other words, do a SWOT (Strenghts, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) analysis of ourselves!!

Loves,
