June 23, 2004 My family is now going on a major diet. The question I always have to ask is, why? Sadly, the same answer always comes up; "because I'm fat". That leads to a new question, who are you doing this diet for. My mother, brother, and cousin all say, "I wanna be a babe!". They want to be a 'babe' for other people. Sure people want to look good for others, but diets for others are for the wrong reasons. You should only take a diet for yourself. If you feel bad about you weight, then you should take a diet. Yet if your a few pounds over weight, and think every one despises you because your 'fat'. Also, the models make people feel bad. Have you ever seen a model who doesn't have a flat stomach? It's almost like being sexist and racist. The best way to end this, is stop caring what people think, and what you think. In conclusion...if we stop showing that we care about what other people think about what we weigh, then people will stop 'hating' us, for not being, 'skinny'. So I say, look at yourself if you think you're 'fat'. Now ask yourself...Am I fat, because I think am...or because others think I am? ------------ About the author: Jessica Brook Gilbert is a young writer from Washington State who hopes to get a book published soon.
