The Bill Clinton Show Is Back

By Johan Peters
June 22, 2004

Bill Clinton has never been the dullest American president. Sexual scandals and war making went hand in hand during his second period of being the president of the USA. Now, he is back in the spotlights. All the serious and gossip media pay attention to his autobiography. ´My life´. He will be delighted with all this attention. Attention for a book means good selling opportunities after all. Are we getting to know him better by the book? Should we want to?

What is the use of telling everyone in the world you´ve been in relation therapy because of some stupid things you´ve done yourself with ´that woman´? That you´ve been sleeping on the couch for months, because your wife was angry at you? I bet she was. Hillary should have learned him a harder lesson, being the woman she can be. What about Chelsea? Did she ignore Bill? Gave him a pipe for his birthday as a hint? Come on, who cares?

Bill Clinton wasn´t a bad president at all. That´s the funny thing about it all. The USA were doing much better during his presidency than they are doing now. But Bill seems to need money and this is a cheap way to get it. Will people buy the book? Think about it twice. A good president need not be a good story teller too.

Meanwhile, Bill is on television, in the newspapers. What about American elections? Hello American people, you have to choose a new president within five months. No time to read 1100 boring pages. You can always do that during wintertime when it´s wise to go to bed early. With such a book, you fall into sleep easily.

Bill should have saved his memoirs for his inner circle. In the end, his image won´t improve. If that was his intention with the book, he failed. One can´t change history.
