I Have A Hope [Barack Obama for US Senate]
July 29, 2004

As some of you may have noticed, I am a Liberal. I have been watching the Democratic National Convention and loving every moment of it! One bright and shining rising star among Democrats is Barack Obama, who is running for a seat in the US Senate from my great birth state, Illinois. Let me begin this with a little background on Mr. Obama for those of you that may be unfamiliar with his credentials and background.

Obama is a graduate of Columbia University (www.obamaforillinois.com) with his degree in political science and international relations which has served him well in his career thus far. He attended Harvard Law School and graduated magna cum laude (www.obamaforillinois.com) and was the first African American man to hold the office as President of their law review.

Obama has been very outspoken and participatory in enacting legislation dealing with ethics reform, civil rights and liberties, and a leader in reforming the juvenile justice system. (www.obamaforillinois.com) He has been a champion of early education, co-sponsored legislation that requires accountability for all school districts, and helped to recruit and hire skilled teachers for Illinois educational system. (www.obamaforillinois.com)

Obama is a family man and holds dear a hope that he can help America come together and bridge the rift that the current Administration has caused around the globe and within our own borders. In his moving speech Tuesday evening he suggested that America and American’s become less cynical and more hopeful that things can and will change. (www.obamaforillinois.com) He recounted a tale from his childhood where all dreams are possible and if he can do what he has, in his nearly 43 years of life, so can the rest of us! America is a place of endless possibilities, so let us all look into its potential and see what we can do.

Obama tells us not to believe in blind optimism (www.obamaforillinois.com) or willful ignorance that assumes that if we don’t do anything about our problems they will eventually go away. Furthermore, he states that the Kerry-Edwards ticket will ensure that lack of adequate healthcare or rising unemployment or welfare will soon become a thing of the past. And I honestly believe that he is on to something big there and that America and American’s need a change and some hope afterall this can’t possibly be it. What about you?
