Hockey Fans In Calgary

Again the streets of Calgary were alive with flames hysteria again tuesday as thousands poured of Pengrowth Saddledome celebrating the teams 4-1 win over the Tampa Bay Lightening.

Just after the nights game thousands of fans crowded all the best Restaurant strip of 17 Avenue. Which has been dubbed the red mile for the sea of red jerseys in support to the team.

A standing ovation was given for the last two minutes of the game.

Its the first time in ten years a Canadian team made to a round of the Stanley Cup.

The last time a Canadian team won the Stanley Cup was in 1993 when the Montreal Canadians beat the Los Angeles Kings. Vancouver was beat out by the New York Rangers.

We entered overtime tied gretting our teeth, Hanging on the edge of our seats. Game 7 the crowd roared and shouted at the Saddledome.

People grabed each other and high fived their neighbour.

Our team was a goal away from bringing the Stanely Cup to Canada in the 10 years.

Calgary Flames fans jammed city streets late Saturday after our team went into overtime on home ice.

Game 7 set for Monday night in Tampa. Flames fanatics still selbrated the Flames.

From city workers to children a red line could be seen leaving the Saddledome. Flags tied to hockey sticks and jerseys shoulder to shoulder heading to the street nicknamed the Red Mile cars honked on through the night keeping everyone awake in the area of downtown. Post game partys, Homeless support through the Carafest fans can be seen everywhere.

100,000 to celebrate 17th Avenue in Calgary Cup clinching victory in Game 6 Banners for Jarome Iginea from his home town and heis mother at Game 6.

Home 19,000 fams watching television at the Game 6 Toronto to Vancouver.

Fans even took planes to Tampa Bay 150 strong to Game 5 500 fans showed up Green Hats pins hockey sticks ribbionsred jerseys thoundersticks horns hats wigs of red hair made from yarn real hair painted red flags signs and chants. A refreshing exciting tons of calgary and Canadaas well as Tampa Bay.

Money being donated to the Calgary food bank. Loud and proud 35,000 delirous fans. Scalpers outside the Saddledome selling tichkets at $700.00 for lower boul seats at centre ice before the game in Calgary.

Choruses of boos could be heard on the 17th Avenue as Tampa reached the goal 5-2 Saturday night. 40,000 fans flooded downtown cores to celebrate. A low flying police helecoper drowned out chants. Web pages coving the games. Everyone crowding the televisions along the 17 Avenue sea of red.

Over coffee the talks over the cost of coffee and reviews of previous games. Taking the game to game 7 Monday night.

125 fans on West Jet on the way to Tampa Jarome Iginea's mother along with them.

One banner in Calgary read "Thanks for the Journey".

A civic rally is planned for the Flames on Wednesday at 12:15 PM at the Olympic Plaza, the Calgary Tower flame was lit for two days during the rally and after.

Our Flames will be interesting to watch next year at this time.
