Democratic Convention Protesters? [The DNC Is Flip-Flopping]

By Sher Zieve
July 26, 2004

It’s being reported that the Democrats have affected the tightest security ever for a Democratic convention. Also reported is that a march of approximately 3,000 people (anti-war protesters and those protesting oppression in Haiti and healthcare and funding for schools) occurred, yesterday. FoxNews reports “State police in riot gear lined Beacon Street during the anti-war march. A half-dozen cruisers and 18 police vans followed slowly along the parade route.” Hold it! This makes no sense, at all.

These “protesters” are the mainstream of the Democrat party. John Kerry (the presumptive Democrat candidate for President) has already told us they are. I can understand the Democrat party coming down on the pro-lifers but, certainly not its base! However, there were pro-life protesters in the crowd. These may, actually, be the ones the police were after. Besides, as of this writing, the old bastions of “liberal truth, liberal justice and the leftist American Way” (Washington Post, NY Times and LA Times) don’t even have this story on the front pages of their websites. So, at least these media giants are showing their solidarity with their own and the cause. The democrats can take solace in this. At least their large PR machine is showing support.

Indications are that John Kerry’s (and the DNC’s) platform is [rather oddly] promoting the positions of President Bush’s administration! This lends new meaning to the democrats doing and saying anything to win. It also shows that Kerry may truly be running the Democratic party, now. Even the DNC is flip-flopping on its previous positions.
