July 21, 2004 Updating from yesterday's story Sandy Berger Stuffing Documents Down His Pants [Sloppiness?]: Sandy Berger says he made an inadvertent honest mistake. Apparently, Mr. Berger made the same “inadvertent honest mistake” at least twice and some reports are that he did the deed five times. Not only did Mr. Berger remove classified documents from the National Archives (a huge no-no) but, many of those documents were never returned. I cannot in good conscience, or maintain any preservation of brain cells, believe that sloppiness occurs over and over again or that this could be inadvertent (and by no means “honest”) when he was stuffing documents into his pockets and down his pants. The liberals (Clinton, Daschle, Kerry etc.), however, are working very hard to “assist” us in believing just that. Does anyone in the public wonder where these unreturned documents ended up? In some shredder, perhaps? Former President Clinton said that he “had a good laugh about it”. I guess he would, as the documents probably pertained to his handling of terrorism. But, a laugh? As the former leader of the free world, I find President Clinton’s reaction (at best) extremely inappropriate. Mr. Berger’s actions have been kept from the public for at least a year. So, it’s little wonder that the liberals are furious that this story has finally come out. The liberals question “the timing” of the whistle-blowing. But, if the Republicans wanted to really “make hay” with this story, why wouldn’t they have released it after any one of the Bush-bashing books was published? At least this story, unlike the liberal’s vilifying stories about President Bush, is true. A final note is that 9/11 Commission spokesman Al Felzenberg said that Berger’s activities will have no bearing on the commission’s report. Guess there is little doubt, anymore, that the 9/11 Commission is purely political.
