John Kerry and the Black Vote, Redux
July 18, 2004

One would think that, by now, the black voter would be catching on to the Democrat Party's tactics with respect to the black vote. After all, they've been doing almost exactly the same thing since the 30's. It works like this: During the campaign, cater to the black voters' whims. Promise them what you believe that they want from government. In the main, at least since FDR, that's more and more government "benefits." It doesn't really matter who it is that actually pays for those benefits or really even if they actually GET 'em--only that they are promised by whoever the Democrat candidate happens to be at the time. That, in itself, is adequate to secure 90+% of the black vote most of the time. Even though the law prohibits it, candidates canvass black churches and mine them for votes and campaign workers as though they were the Escanlante Stairstep National Reserve--Oh wait! That's off limits now since Clinton pulled his little coup-de-etat a few years ago. Let's say mine them as though they were....well, goldmines.

The point is, once the election is over and the Democrat is safely ensconced in his office-- forget 'em. Oh, it never hurts to give them a sop like passing the Child Care act, for example. That'll cost a few hundred million, but there's more where that came from. Plus, it'll give us a quicker shot at their kids so we can start their indoctrination even earlier.

The point is, the Democrats have been pulling this game for decades and the black "community" never seems to catch on. It works like hiding the rabbit under the table cloth, whisking the table cloth away to reveal....nothing. An even better analogy is the old gag of tying a piece of fishing line around a dollar bill an putting the bill out on the sidewalk. When someone comes along, sees the bill and bends down to pick it up, you jerk the bill away from them so that it's always just out of reach--the difference being that the person trying to pick up that dollar eventually catches on and stops bending over. Not so the black community, apparently.

The black "leadership" seems to believe that "having a seat at the table" is sufficient; especially if it's THEM that sits at that table-- accompanied by suitable compensation, of course. Then, the black "leadership" must do and say the proper things to keep their constituencies in an uproar about how "unfair" America is to black Americans. First, it's "racial profiling" to catch criminals. None of these "leaders" ever seem to be able to understand that if a black gang robs a bank, the police can't be expected to go out and search every Irish garden club lady, looking for clues. It just doesn't work that way. Then, it's "we're treated unfairly by the elite universities (or ANY universities, for that matter) in that our kids aren't able to pass those silly tests that are required for admissions. Therefore, their logic dictates, it must be that the TESTS are racist. One wonders if it ever occurred to any of these people that black parents expecting their kids to excel in their school work might have a very positive effect on those same kids' actual academic performance? When is the black community going to put a stop to those black kids who DO understand this being harassed by their classmates as, "trying to be white?" Being a good student is NEITHER black or white. It's what most kids are capable of, given the proper encouragement, discipline and help. This may be the ONLY thing that black kids are "entitled to"- -that is, help, encouragement and discipline-- insofar as their school experience is concerned.

I can think of nothing more demeaning to a group of people than for them, their peers and even the government having NO expectations of them. When will black Americans ever GET it?
