Supra-Media

By Mike Haran
July 3, 2004

Communications, with the advent of satellites, transcend national boundaries making it common to all. Into the ether has crept a consciousness similar to that in the minds of man during ancient times where Zeus, Athena, and Cronus indirectly affected their lives, these gods living in a world unaffected by gravity, hunger or by the weather. The media too are immune from the normal restraints placed upon human kind.

During the early part of the Iraq war when US tank crews were accused of firing into at building housing reporters the BBC announced that they had cameras trained upon the building which detected no smoke issuing from the building within the half hour period prior to the firing of a round from the main armament of an Abrahams tank, the army’s position being that the justification for their firing into the building the fact that they had detected sniper fire coming from the upper floors. Either the BBC have very sophisticated camera equipment or the insurgency is using very old ammunition, so old in fact as to leave smoke, a type of round not used since the 19th century. But then again the media are supra-natural and not subject to laws of nature.

If so the BBC can spot the smoke even though invisible to the human eye. Do the great media generated Bush scandals leave any trace in this world? Who really cares that his service in the ANG is under question? Or that the relatives of those killed in the trade center, in their grief, blame him, or that Iraqi POW are not receiving the best of treatment, or that those thought to be the perpetrators of cowardly attacks do not get good treatment from those subject to the attacks? It seems that only the gods are angry. I haven’t met any members of the public who are screaming for Bush’s blood. Sure I’ve met a lot of those who would not vote for him, but those types never do no matter what. The media has divided the world in to two parts: those who accept its positions and those who don’t. All societies need some type of religion. The media have created a religion where the very act of subjecting it to logical scrutiny is regarded as blasphemy. Who would publicly oppose the following view points?

Big business is bad. Western civilization is responsible for all of the worlds ills. The urge to have sexual intercourse is completely unconnected with procreation of the species. The mixing of the races will bring about an era of peace. Enlightenment in the western world began in earnest with the enrollment of the College and University classes during the late sixties.

Christianity has come full circle. Barbarians destroyed the religions leaving Christianity intact. The neo barbarians are now destroying Christianity leaving what intact? Those that do not subscribe to the media?
