Aug 29, 2004 Over the last several days two very significant stories broke (from highly reliable sources), which support the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth claims about John F. Kerry. These are accounts from retired Rear Adm. William L. Schachte Jr. (who stated that John Kerry’s first Purple Heart was indeed received due to “self-inflicted injuries”) and Former Navy Secretary John Lehman who advised that he had neither seen, signed nor authorized any citation (although it bore his signature) for a Silver Star to be awarded to John Kerry. Therefore, Kerry’s Purple Heart should never have been awarded and his Silver Star is, at best, highly suspect. I even wrote an article about them yesterday. Still holding hope that our “old liberal media” would finally report the truth about their candidate, this morning I checked the news websites of ABC, MSNBC, CNN, NY Times and the Boston Globe. There were NO stories on the continuing, ever- growing and increasingly sordid Kerry-Gate issue. Instead, several of these “bastions of journalistic excellence” ran stories about the havoc being created by the RNC’s convention in New York and the Boston Globe ran a Bush-bash story about the President beginning “A Lifetime of Risk Taking….”. Again, my hopes were dashed. The old liberal media (AKA “DNC Media Machine”) are sticking to their guns and will report only the news that they can massage and manipulate for the public. Like an aging Pravda, if their agenda (the election of Monsieur Kerry to the presidency) is not supported by the truth, the truth goes into their shredders. The old liberal media’s talking-head Kerry surrogates are interviewed on television news programs and when they are presented with “The Truth About Kerry” proceed to shout, heckle and (often using ad hominem attacks) talk down their detractors. Civil discourse is impossible when truth meets lies. Shouting and even screaming are the liars’ only defenses. The only avenue truth appears to have, today, is the “new alternative media”. Although some of the new media stories and blogs are not as thoroughly researched as they might be, we already know that old media’s stories won’t be… by design. Old liberal media will not report on anything that will interrupt or alter their schemes. Life in the big city, I suppose. However, as the new media continues to build up steam and attract readers, old liberal media is beginning to see a clear and present danger to their power base. The tides may be shifting towards a more straightforward and honest presentation of the news. You can bet that more stories will emerge on the lies Mr. Kerry and his surrogates have told and will continue to tell. But, you won’t read it in the old media.
