Pulling Bush From the Game

By Max Burns
Aug 23, 2004

I’m considering how efficient it would be to have someone else type these up. It would probably save a lot of time, you know. I’m hesitant, though, to give someone else the ability to write my name and put content on here with my quasi- permission.

The Grit and I Apologize have gotten some good feedback, with one confused person not understanding that the things I was apologizing for were sarcastic. Oh well – you can’t educate everyone.

It’s also quite nice to see that President Bush is hot on the trail of the terrorist scum – I mean Osama bin Ladin, not like we’ve heard anything about him from anyone in the Bush Administration lately – by planning a trip to the Olympics and attempting to give Tony Blair a Congressional Medal of Honor. I had been reserving hope that President Bush wasn’t as slow as he looks, but I’ve just lost hope.

What did Tony Blair do to deserve a Medal of Honor, I ask? A Medal of Excessive Pandering seems more fitting to the British Prime Minister. However, from a President who touts the positive border relations between Mexico and Canada, I don’t really have a set low expectation for Bush anymore. I’m just curious as to what valor in battle Tony Blair showed in Basra or Baghdad, Umm Qasr or Najaf. What wounds did he take in securing the post of the Americans?

Oh, yes, it’s for his “long-time support of the War in Iraq.” Pandering indeed.

Also, it’s not Dubya that has allowed one of the sharpest rises in global significant terror attacks. Honest. Just because they have increased by 41% since 2001 does not in any way signal President Bush’s utter incompetence for the job at hand. Not the man who does not want “our allies held hostile.”

The very thought that we would award this man a second term is far beyond me. The deficit, a bungled war, a terrorist maniac on the loose, and Bush finds time to go to the Olympics and watch the sporting events.

That’s nice.

Please, please inform me as to how a 41% increase in terror attacks equates to a successful War on Terror. The Defense Secretary has even asked – “Are we creating more terrorists than we are killing?”

Good effort, team. Your referendum is in three months.

Thank God.
