Aug 17, 2004 “He took his vorpal sword in hand: Long time the manxome foe he sought --So rested he by the Tumtum tree, And stood awhile in thought.” That verse from Jabberwocky (“Alice in Wonderland”) is beginning to sum up the John Kerry campaign. It has become increasingly nonsensical. Let’s take a look. Mr. Kerry, for years, falsely claimed that (under President Nixon’s directive) he was on a secret mission to Cambodia in 1968 (his “people” have now backed away from this claim…which by the way is published in Kerry’s book Tour of Duty). As has been endlessly reported by the “non-mainstream press”, President Nixon had not yet taken office in 1968. Of course, Kerry’s “Date-Gate” led to his attempts to change that date from December 1968 to January 1969 (when Nixon took office). Kerry has, also, refused to release all of his military records; records that might just clear up his inconsistencies. The medals he won in Viet Nam have serious questions attached to them (according to the book Unfit For Command and statements from many of his former soldier colleagues), throughout his non-political career he was an anti-war and anti-American protester and throughout his political career he has been named the most liberal Senator in the US (now he has decided to become a “centrist” in order to attract more votes) and he has flipped and flopped on virtually every vote he’s cast as a Senator; so that he can claim that he’s supported all sides of all issues. I know that I’ve probably missed others but, there are just so many examples it’s hard to keep track. Did Mr. Kerry, perchance, also help Al Gore in creating the Internet? Guess we’ll just have to “wait and see” on that one. One of the new claims Team Kerry has made is that John Kerry served as the Vice-Chairman of the intelligence committee. Whoops! Not so, Mr. Kerry. Bob Kerrey was the one who held that position, not you. Another new claim made by Mr. Kerry (John not Bob) is that, although he DID miss 76% of [his] Senate Intelligence Committee “public” votes, he voted in “private” committee. The problem, of course, is that Mr. Kerry has not authorized his “private voting record” to be released. Hmmmm. Mr. Kerry doesn’t like releasing anything that may prove either to be controversial [to him] or could actually contradict what he tells us. I guess we just have to hope that some other “non- mainstream press” outlet will find his records and release them. We already know that the “mainstream liberal press” will not. “We the people” have a right to know. As Alice might say, Mr. Kerry is becoming “curiouser and curiouser.” ------------ About the author: About the author: Sher Zieve is a Conservative political commentator, appeared on the CBS program "Mysteries of the Millennium", has been included in "Who's Who in the West", "Who's Who in the US" and "Who's Who in Entertainment".
