Aug 15, 2004 1 In the Beginning I was not going to read the book, did not want to, nor did I really want to examine it, but it keeps popping up, wherever I go, and so being the person I am, I got to investigate and see where truth and the hypocrisy reside. So I was thinking, one has to take the right or the left side of this picture, story, or whatever you want to call it. I found myself taking Middle Ground, what I call middle ground; possible what someone else may call something else. Anyhow, here is what I came up with, and I will not try to take too much of your time on this matter because - well, it just is not worth it. But I do have a few little ants biting at my heals on this theory. A Dan Brown mystery, science fiction drama that is what I call it; let us see if rare theory has any merit. Question: has the Christian Church been hiding something? (But then we have to ordain which church is the correct one, so let's just put them all together, like different Chinese cuisine-dishes; it is all Chinese at the end, right? ((Or should be.)) I have read in the Bible, as I am sure many have, during the end times, people will falsify (try to make a sham of) Christendom (like Islam is trying, and all the other so called hidden forces of darkness). So this is to be expected, so do not let this book "The Da Vinci Code," alarm you for it was already prophesized long before Mr. Brown was born, he is just one of the tools of: darkness; even if he did not want to be. 2 More Questions Question two: "Was Jesus married to Mary Magdalene?" Well, if He was so what, he came down as a man, not a mouse - but I would stick with the Biblical version rather than take Brown's theory on faith, it is like "Darwin's" all conjecture, and you need a lot more faith in Darwin's concepts, than believing in Christ. But I will try to stick with Da Vinci, if I can. Let us go for Question three. Question three: "Can the son of God be 'flesh?'" "Why not?" If He wanted to be an ant, "Why not?" I mean do we have a little God here or a Big God. A little God needs Islamic help to crush the Americans, a Big God doesn't need anyone's help to bring down Russia, or for that matter any country. Becoming flesh is what he made man to be, if He wanted to be flesh for a day, fine, it is his prerogative. Mr. Brown simply put a story behind a legend, like Billy the Kid - did Billy kill 21- people, as it is told today, "No," he did not, rather he killed possible three or four. Mary of Magdalene simply had a legend behind her, and we will get to that in a moment. Now for Question four. Question four: "Why would the Church lie?" Depending on what bowl of soup you are having, we have already determined it is all Chinese food; it is just the dishes we are looking at. I do not know why a church would lie, but I am sure those in the church are not without sin. 3 Conspiracy- Cathars belief "What is Truth?" Asked the Roman governor, Pilot, to Jesus of Nazareth, and he answered: "I am the way, the truth and the life" John 14:6. When did all this theory stuff start might be a good starting point? How about the gossip around 1200 AD; not before or right after Christ death but some 1170-years beyond it, is when it all started. So like any conspiracy, it had a lot of time to figure out how to present itself. And Mr. Brown jumped in the baked pie, and cooked it royally; remember the Cathars? The Cathars, a cult of its day, like Armstrongism was in the l970s and l980s [otherwise know as the "World Wide Church of God"]. Let me quote a belief of H.W. Armstrong, "The purpose of your being alive is that finally you be born into the kingdom of God, when you will...be God, even as Jesus was and is God..." What is wrong with this statement? Let us look at Isaiah 43,"Before Me there was no God... there will be none after Me." That is plane to me; again we will try to connect the dots in a moment. --Let us also bypass the Pope, Simon de Mount fort, the Crusades, and get down to business. The persecution of the Cathars made their faith stronger as often it does. Like the Black Madonna cult; nor is it much different than the Mormons or Jehovah's Witnesses, all cults in their own right; and we can add, Unitarianism, Zen Buddhism, Hedonism, Satanism, Atheism. They all fall into the cult arena. But then every era has their new cults, like Armstrongism, and so was the Cathars, simply a cult of their day, it started over by the Balkans, and like most cults spread themselves out proclaiming to be the "True Christianity," as if something special. Middle Ground The Cathars not only believed in the devil, but believed he was equal to God, Himself. So the once fallen angel, Lucifer, turned into a god himself, equal to his maker, how cleaver. Not sure how this all manifested but the Cathars would be able to justify it somehow I am sure; to me it does not even sound practical. The Cathars also rejected the Catholic Churches sacraments of the day, which I find not too hard to swallow, being a Baptist. They did not believe in the Last Judgment, which of course most people would be open to; we also find a personal salvation in their doctrine, not through Christ, again, Armstrongism and the Cathars got something in common. 4 Mary Magdalene I seem to have been reading a lot about Mary Magdalene these past 20 plus years, going on decade three, and each decade she becomes closer and closer to Christ (before we go on, let us put the Holy Grail away. Ok, now it is clear sailing. We all know where her name comes from, I think: Mary came from the town of Magdalene, so she was called Mary of Magdalene, or as we have often in the 21st century, eliminated the "of", for Mary Magdalene [Why not even shorten it more: MM, for short]. And now we can start, and start we shall without his so called daughter called Sarah [no proof Jesus had a daughter], that is so off balanced I don't even want to get into it. As I mentioned, Mary came from the town of Magdalene, and she does not appear in the Bible all that much, at best a few fragments, like a fossil seeker. And yes, the historians got it right, she was a prostitute. And she was present at some of Christ's crucial times, during His ministry, but so were the other apostles. There is no, I mean nothing to connect Jesus with Mary Magdalene to an intimate relationship outside of a manic imagination. If Mary was anything at all in this group of apostles, with Jesus and His mother, she was the first, possible the first female apostle, liken to Paul, or if you will, John. For she was with them after his death, and lived with them in Ephesus, where I was in l996, visiting Mary's home on top of a hill; and now we even got a gay community implying such an ugly thing. --We can get into the Gnostic Gospels, I have them at home and have read them, and if you can read between the unsacred lines you will get a bit of history, but they are not sacred books, they are liken to Brown's book, full of dead meat - but more meaningful. But again I must say, the Gnostic gospels are important, but not without reservation, that is why they are called Gnostic. If there is anything to learn from this, it is I believe, that women were treated with respect and high regard by Christ, more so than by us men today or those of yesterday. ------------ About the author: Mr. Siluk is a world traveler, a lover of the mysteries around the world, and has visit many World Heritage Sites, the most recent being Easter Island and the Galapagos.
