Apr 10, 2004 In 1978 Sammy Knight was only 12 when he went to Disney for the first time. It was a great vacation with his family. When they returned home, there was one thing he forgot to tell his parents. He had found a baby alligator and had brought it back home. He kept it hidden and fed it daily. Its appetite grew and Sammy had to feed it more as time went on. What Sammy hadn’t planned on was the alligator escaping. He went to feed it one day and found the cage tore apart and his 2 rabbits gone. The rabbit cage was torn to shreds as if it never was a cage. Now 26 years later, a monster is being sighted during winter. Skiers are disappearing from the slopes. No one can explain what is going on. People that have seen the creature say it is white and hard to see in the snow. The few sightings that were reported had been skiers who happened to see a wide mouth coming out of the snow. They didn’t understand it. One guy who happened to witness the thing said, “It looked like the snow grew a mouth and just started eating a skier not 20 feet away. It was awful”. Searches were conducted by law enforcement and animal enforcement. Then on March 23, 2004 a lucky break for the people of Wimingdale, Vermont. A skier who happened to be recording his son’s first ski lesson caught the entire events that follow on tape. As his son came down the slope towards him, he followed the boy’s progress until the snow opened up and swallowed him. As the snow swallowed the boy, the father screamed at the top of his lungs. He dropped the video recorder and ran to the spot where his son disappeared. He is digging around in the snow hoping to find his son. But there is nothing left but a few drops of precious blood in the snow. Reporters converged on the man asking him all sorts of questions. He answered them as best as he could. Until news reporter showed up and found out about the tape the father had made. Paying him very handsomely, the reporter took the recording back to the studio and aired it that night on the news. People were shocked and it was hard to tell what the thing was. One man said that it had to be huge in order to swallow a boy of 10 in one gulp. Then on April 2, 2004 a man who was on a ski trip from Florida happened to notice a dog disappear not 10 feet away. The man’s name was Steve Irwin. Noticing the event, he knew instantly what it was. And he knew he had to be the one to catch the prize of his career. Calling up a friend he wanted everything on tape. This would be excellent for his next episode. He would call it, Crocodile Hunter in the North. Having a camera crew around, he looked and tried his best to find the creature again. It happened on April 7, 2004 around 3:00 p.m. Him and his crews were scouting the area when a crew member noticed a squirrel disappear. Raising the camera, he started filming as Steve came over. Looking at the snow closely, he saw a slight movement just in front of him. He jumped on the creature and held on for dear life. The creature rose up out of the ground and tried throwing him off. But being a professional gator hunter he knew what to do. The gator drug him all over the place rolling over and trying to dislodge him. Steve hung on for dear life and just wouldn’t let go. He knew this was his big find. 12 hours later and 500 feet from where he first jumped on the creature, it petered out. His crew brought over some duct tape and rope to tie the creature up. Once the creature was secure, they measured it. It was an astonishing 35 feet long. The biggest gator ever recorded in history. People had seen the event take place and news reporters caught the capture on tape and played it for the world to see. Scientists took samples and came to the conclusion that this gator was chameleon- like. It could change colors at will. Something they had never heard about. You can see the video tonight at 10:00 p.m. on The Steve Irwin Channel. And if you act now you can own a copy of the video on VHS or DVD for only $39.95.
