Apr 25, 2004 Ten years and two children later, my husband and I seemingly have the perfect marriage. A beautiful home, the kids in a good school. On any given day you would find me on bended knee thanking God for bringing us together, and on the other knee asking him to keep us together. A good man, my husband is supportive, attentive and a great father to the kids; yet on the other hand he's predictable, unapproachable and quite frankly boring. The romance left our marriage after our second child. He's all the man I need, but less than the man I want. So, crazy bored and out of my mind tired, I called up an old girlfriend who I hadn't seen in while and convinced her to hit the club scene with me. With my breast feeding breast stuffed painfully in the perfect push up bra, I slowly posed and enjoyed my reflection in the full length mirror. Remember to suck it in tonight, I told myself. I hadn't been out in so long, this would be a good night for me. A simply bronze foundation and a new hair do later, it didn't take me long to make my grand entrance into one of the hottest night clubs in Chicago. As we stepped into the crowded scene with no expectations in mind, subtle thoughts of my perfect family tiptoed through my head, as a glimmer of guilt started to set in. It didn't take me long to flag down the waiter and take the edge off. Girlfriends from back in the day, we chatted and reminisced about old boyfriends and old jealous girlfriends. Laughing and having a good time, we were suddenly interrupted by someone asking her to dance. A sense of sorrow fell across me as the realization of no one asking me to dance set in. Maybe I wasn't sucking it in enough. Well, after a few more drinks, the feelings of sorrow didn't last long. The real reality of the situation set it and the truth was, I had a good man at home. Then without warning, the devil himself showed up in a dark loose fitting shirt and slacks, taking my breath away and sending me into lust overload. Tall, dark and lovely, he was a sexy slim man with broad shoulders and a smile that would make your toes curl. His thick eyelashes shot daggers through me. I turned around and looked to the left and right of me. I wanted to make sure the handsome man was indeed interested in me. Would you like to dance? He whispered from a distance. Who me? I mouthed the words back. R'Kelly's step in the name of love came on and before I knew it I was in his arms stepping from left to right. Boy did he smell good. Seemingly we danced for hours. Do you come here often? He asked. No, this is my first time. Kids? Yes, two. You? Yes, I have two, too. My girlfriend approaching from the corner of my eye, I quickly wave her away. My eyes begging her not to interrupt... She approach anyway. Hey you two, you know your baby-sitter leaves at two. You better get home and check on your kids. She's right, honey. Besides, I can't wait to get home and finish where we left off. This was fun. My husband said... Let's do this again someday. Yeah, someday. I replied as I winked at my girlfriend. ------------ About the author: Thadine Quick is the author of "Addicted to You."
