Why Not?
Apr 21, 2004

There was once a girl who loved to write. Her head was filled with stories that she couldn't wait to get on paper. At night after school, she'd read her current chapters to her brother, who graciously listened. He even acted eager to hear what was going to happen next. She found it was much more fun to write for an audience. But who else would ever care about her childish scribblings?

Then the brother and sister grew up. They got married and lived in different homes. She couldn't stop writing, though, and now there was no audience. She was older and felt self- conscious about her passion. After all, she was no Hemmingway or Truman Capote. Who would ever take her seriously? Who did she think she was?

Confidence ebbed, but the desire wouldn't burn out. So she kept writing, keeping it all very private, for she wasn't a real writer, not really. People wouldn't understand, and she wasn't sure she wanted anyone else to read her work, anyway, because she wasn't a real writer, not really. She didn't know how to write the great American novel; she only knew how to write her passion and her imagination. She created characters which she let come alive in her mind and on her laptop, and she wrote their stories. She wrote about their loves and fears and dreams. She made them come alive on paper, and she loved every minute of it. If only she were a real writer, really.

Then one day after years of experiencing amazing satisfaction and joy in her writing, she asked herself, "Why not?" Why not share these pages that have been years in the making? Why not share this story that made her laugh and cry and fall in love as she wrote it? Why not?

Then came the the risk. Was she ready to bring someone else into this very private and personal world? How should she go about it? Whom should she trust? Should she leave the shelter of the dugout and step up to the plate? Why not?

RIGHTEOUS INDIGNATION was born in print on a cool fall day in September 2000. When she opened the box and saw it for the first time as a bound book, tears came to her eyes. It had all been worth it just to hold it in her hands and see her name on the cover. Already, she had begun her second book, for now she realized that she couldn't NOT write. It was in her blood and in her heart. Writing was what she loved, and writing was what she had to do.

So in the early summer of 2003, she published I THINK I HEAR SLEIGH BELLS much to the delight of the many fans of RIGHTEOUS INDIGNATION, who were eagerly awaiting more. And now a third novel is in the works. It's hard to find time to write in the stolen minutes of a full time job and family life, but it's coming along. And the fans are lined up waiting. She's having the time of her life because writing is what she loves, and now she has an audience again to tell her she does it well.

Should you check it out and see what it's all about? Should you take the risk to read a new author who lives and breathes her work, one who is believing that she is a real writer, really!
