University of Wyoming head football coach Joe Glenn will be the featured speaker at LHS graduation May 28 at the Arena Auditorium. According to information provided by UW head football coach Joe Glenn will begin his 30th season as a coach at the collegiate level, 19 of those years have been as a head coach. He has compiled a career record as head coach of 162-67- 1. He was named Montana’s head coach on December 6, 1999.

Glenn came to Montana from Northern Colorado, where he was considered the most successful coach in the country.

He directed the Bears to 11 straight winning seasons, five trips to the Division II playoffs, and back-to-back national championships.

Earlier at the age of 27, Glenn took control of the coaching reigns at Doane (Neb.) College, becoming the youngest head coach in the collegiate ranks. He began his coaching career in 1974 at his alma mater, South Dakota. Glenn served as the as the offensive backfield coach for one season. He then headed to Northern Arizona University and held the same position.

Glenn earned a bachelor’s degree in health, physical education, recreation and athletics from South Dakota University. He played both quarterback and wide receiver while serving as the team captain during his senior year as a Coyote.

After graduation, he earned ROTC military commission and served two year with U.S. Army. In 1975, he earned his master’s degree in education from South Dakota.

Joe and Michelle, his wife, have two adult children, Erin and Casey.
