Mar. 16, 2006 In 1993 President Bill Clinton proposed a sweeping health care plan that was formulated by Hillary Clinton, unfortunately it was flatly rejected by the public. Hillary Clinton still frequently speaks out on the need for a comprehensive national health care plan. Hillary served on Wal-Mart's board of directors for six years when her husband was governor of Arkansas. Hillary also handled many of Wal-Mart's legal problems when she was a partner in the Rose Law Firm. It's perplexing that a woman who cares so much about health care would have such close ties with a corporation that is notorious for not providing affordable health insurance for its employees. To my knowledge Hillary has never publicly repudiated Wal-Mart's dismal heal care insurance. From the Web site "Wal-Mart's Health Care Crisis": "More than 6000,000 Wal-Mart employees are not covered by the company's plan. A full-time Wal-Mart worker who chooses family coverage has to spend approximately 25% of his or her poverty-level earnings before Wal-Mart will cover any health care costs." In recent months there has been a concerted effort by Democratic politicians and activists to pressure Wal-Mart to improve its abysmal heal care plan. Why hasn't Hillary, who is so closely tied to the issue of affordable health care, joined the chorus condemning Wal-Mart? If Hillary doesn't have the cojones to stand up to Wal-Mart, how can we expect her to stand up to Osama, or the tyrannical leaders of Iran, Syria and North Korea?
