Mar. 8, 2006 I just picked up this article: “Iran Makes Threats to U.N. Security Council”, AP, Monday, March 06, 2006, which begins: “Iran threatened to start full-scale uranium enrichment if members of the U.N. nuclear watchdog agency press for U.N. Security Council action over Tehran's nuclear program at a meeting that opened Monday.” Iran is one of the many signatories on the world Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and at the moment is one of the Treaty’s largest ignorers. Everyone is in agreement that Iran is lying when it says it wants nuclear power for peaceful purposes. As the world’s chief producer of volunteer homicide killers, they have been seeking bigger and better ways to produce bombs capable of being hand carried into public venues to create mass death. Yes, we want the whole world to believe Iran when they talk peace. Well, tell us….what did John Bolton say? “A top U.S. diplomat, meanwhile, said there was an urgent need to confront Iran's "clear and unrelenting drive" for nuclear weapons. Iran "must be made aware that if it continues down the path of international isolation, there will be tangible and painful consequences," John Bolton, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, told the conference of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee on Sunday.” Iran has been in the news every day. I know this because I’ve been collecting the articles. You know this because you have been on the internet. I don’t know if anyone reading USA Today know it, or any American Newspaper for that matter. But Iran has been issuing threats every day since the election of their new, brain damaged and historically challenged president. But quickly! What did the vaunted IAEA discover concerning Iran? “Past IAEA board meetings have ended with resolutions taking Iran to task for hindering investigations into a nuclear program that was kept secret for nearly 18 years and more recently urging it to reimpose a freeze on enrichment. The Feb. 4 resolution asked IAEA chief Mohamed ElBaradei to report those concerns and others to the Security Council and to formally hand over the complete Iran file to the council. It also asked him to provide the council with his latest report, drawn up for this week's IAEA meeting. That report said Iran appeared determined to expand uranium enrichment, planning to start setting up thousands of uranium-enriching centrifuges this year. Gee! A United Nations’ resolution was issued. I bet that hurt Iran real bad! Iran is “hindering” investigations into their 18-year “secret” program. Iran is “planning to start setting up thousands of uranium-enriching centrifuges this year.” That would be not next year or the year after that. This is Mohamed ElBaradei’s report. Soon to be ignored at a Security Council meeting near you! But what of the Security Council? “IAEA delegates suggested the U.N. agency's board would not push for confrontation with Iran, and said any initial decisions by the Security Council based on this week's meeting would be mild. The council's most likely action, they said, would be a statement urging Iran to increase cooperation with IAEA inspectors and to resume its freeze on uranium enrichment -- an activity that can make both reactor fuel and the core of nuclear warheads.” AH! The dreaded “statement urging Iran to increase cooperation with IAEA inspectors”! I believe this was the same general punishment a certain former leader of Iraq once faced. No, we should not confront this enemy of world stability. We must write a stern letter to them suggesting they not be militant, but return to the path of nuclear righteousness, or face the cutting edge of an Oil-for-Food program! And what did Mr. Bolton have to say about this Security Council measure? “Even such a mild step could be weeks down the road, but it would formally begin council involvement with Iran's nuclear file, starting a process that could culminate with political and economic sanctions. Bolton said a failure by the Security Council to address Iran would damage the council's credibility. "The longer we wait to confront the threat Iran poses, the harder and more intractable it will become to solve." So it will take weeks to “diplomatically” write a letter that will not “diplomatically” upset Iran into leaving the recently ignored diplomatic efforts by the EU to offer carrots for ending Iranian nuclear threats, or ignoring Russia’s current offer to assist Iran in their so-called “peaceful” nuclear pursuits by bringing their uranium enrichment onto Russian soil. Meanwhile, Iran is already breaking IAEA seals and restarting uranium enrichment. So who else is talking about this? “India's prime minister said Monday that more time was needed for diplomacy. India, a member of the IAEA board, has long-standing ties with Iran, and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh told lawmakers in New Delhi that "confrontation should be avoided at all costs." Iran has been wise to tie itself to American allies. America is now tied in more ways than one from forcing the issue with Iran. Diplomacy is the word and Iran knows how to play the United Nations like a fine piano. They are getting a lot of help from their buddies in China and Russia also. From the article: “But Russia and China have economic and strategic ties with Tehran. While they voted with the majority of IAEA board members at a Feb. 4 meeting to alert the council to suspicions about Iran's nuclear aims, they insisted the council do nothing until after this week's IAEA meeting in Vienna.” Getting any reasonable sanctions against Iran will be next to impossible. Iran is selling oil to all the right players. Russia and China are always head-over-heels when they see American diplomacy with its neck hairs up and no claws in its front paws. The Iranians will continue to threaten and bluster because they can. No, one has the guts to confront this Islamic regime full of homicide killers, religious lunatics and brain damaged politicians whose sole goals in life are the destruction of Jews and the elimination of anything they believe Mohammad would like to see eliminated. If you are not going to confront those who threaten you, then help them. Offer to send in all the French, Russian, Chinese, American, and Danish nuclear scientists available to help them fully and safely develop a “peaceful” nuclear program.
