Feb. 24, 2006 On Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2006, a very important shrine for the Shiites that is located in Samarra, Iraq, was rocked by a bomb blast. The scary part? This latest incident makes the Shiites target with country wide wave of reprisals the Sunnis. This threatens the Iraqi people to be pushed into a new depth of disorder and fear. More than 60 people were killed in violence that erupted around the country. Three of which were Sunni clerics that were killed in Baghdad. As I read the new article in the Los Angeles Times, I became afraid. What if Iraq is the new West Bank? Will peace EVER come to the middle east? I doubt it. This part of the world has been in a war-like situation as far back as I can remember. Religious wars are more frightening to me than a political war. In Religious wars, you have people that are so zealous about their religion that they will go to low down dirty schem that only kill people and innocent ones at that. That's why I love America, we have the religious freedom that includes everyone and not just one religion or faith. It is in our Human Bill of Rights for freedom of religion. In this way, I wish that the middle east would take a look at our religious structure and copy it. I know that the "Holy Land" will be forever locked in battle as it is the center of three major religions in the world. But I can pray that they find a way to co-exist can't I? What is the definition of "insurgent?" A rebel or revolutionary is the Webster's definition. But is that correct about the revolutionary part? What kind of "revolutionary war" can the people of the middle east hope to gain by fighting other religions? We all know that war only brings heartache, sorrow, pain, and destruction. What sort of war can change a person's religion? Why can't the people of the world just accept each other's religion and heritages? What sort of land are they going to end up with after this Holy War if they are bombing everything in sight?
