Feb. 14, 2006 Does Vice President, Dick Cheney laugh any better than he shoots? Lets hope he has a sense of humor, he is going to need it. I don't agree with the man's politics. I wish he'd support his lesbian daughter's right to be legally married to her same gender partner. Nevertheless, I'll not be using humor to bash the man because of an unfortunate accident. I am sure he didn't do it on purpose. Undoubtedly, Cheney had better target in mind to shoot rather than a Seventy Eight Year Old Lawyer. Oh My! Here comes the Lawyer Jokes - Another political correct group of humans beings to make joke about. The lawyers seem to handle it better than other groups of folks. How many times is there hatred blended in with jokes. Jokes about Gay People designed to make them less than human. Did the murderers of young black teenager Emmit Till - laugh and joke when they killed him. Did the humor successfully dehumanize the terrified youth so they can justify what they did? Male Bashing jokes may be politically correct but to embrace attitudes behind the humor - certainly won't attract the love of a man. On a lighter note - I have often heard black folks call each other the n-word. I wouldn't dare use that term. I see no hatred as Black Folks jest at themselves with the word but they might question my motives if I did the same. I was once reprimanded by a person of pure Caucasian descent for referring to myself as a Crazy Blackfeet Injun who can't do firewater. I was told that I was being disrespectful toward my own people.. My Pow Wow dancing buddies had a good laugh when I related the story to them.. If the energy behind the humor is camaraderie, it snowballs into positive energy. That is the kind of humor folks need to focus on. The Peta Animal Activist and Gun Control folks will not be thinking kind thoughts as they wave signs suggesting that "Cheney take up Golf" when they are protesting on the Capitol Building Lawn. On the other hand, even Florida Governor Jeb Bush can't resist making a joke about Dick Cheney's Hunting Accident. The Governor spoke to at the Florida State Fair Governor's Day Luncheon. All guests were given stickers from the Florida Farm Bureau that read, quote -- "No Farmers, No Food." Jeb Bush placed the bright orange sticker, the same color as a hunting jacket, on his chest and said, "I'm a little concerned that Dick Cheney is going to walk in." Undoubted, the President's brother put out the humor in a spirit of camaraderie for a fellow Republican. Otherwise, his mother, Former First Lady Barbara Bush would come to Florida and paddle his behind. If New York Senator, Hillary Clinton said the same joke, Republicans might be throwing tomatoes at her. There were local folks who proudly call themselves Rednecks who had a good laugh when a transplanted left coaster named "Bonijean Isaacs" acquired a concealed weapons permit. I paid the money to take the class and mentioned that the last time I shot a gun, I ran a 357 magnum through my foot. We were target shooting indoors with wax bullets. My shooting partner playfully started limping when it was our turn to shoot at the targets. I gave the sheriff department some money and they investigated me. They contacted the local mental health facility and checked to see if I had a criminal record. It is on record that I took anti-depressants when I first got divorced. They may have also found out that I "Disturbed the Peace" in my hoochy kootchy dancing days. Nevertheless, I've acquired a Concealed Weapons Permit. I still don't have a gun. I need to know more about how to shoot one before I actually buy one. I don't want to accidentally be shooting lawyers.
