Feb. 7, 2006 If a person keeps insisting they are a peaceful tolerant person, but then violently lashes out at someone they don't like, what are we to believe? If Mr. Jones says he's not a racist but enjoys burning crosses are we to believe his words or his actions? Here we have Islam, a religion we are told who's very name means peace (it means submission), is throwing a temper tantrum because of a cartoon depicting Mohammed as a man of violence. These things reveal many things about the "religion of peace" none of them flattering. First we have an intolerant, bullying nature. There are over a billion Muslims in the world and a lot of them are ganging up on poor little Denmark. (Of course most Muslims are not part of these protests, but enough of a minority are to warrant our attention. Not to mention the violence of these protests.) Probably the most harmless, inoffensive country on the planet. They are subjected to this fit of rage because Denmark refuses to capitulate on freedom of speech to members of the dark age goon squad. Muslims are calling for the beheading of the person responsible for the cartoon. Yes, chopping off someones head is very peaceful. Never mind that the Muslim press is filled with far more offensive material on a daily basis. Stereotypical depictions of Africans like they got them straight from the Ku Klux Klan, and denouncing Jews as pigs and monkeys. Where are the demands for an apology? Where are the riots against muslims for their blatant bigotry? There aren't any because we know that in a free and open society you run a very high risk of someone saying something you find offensive. And if you go on the rampage every time your offended pretty soon you'll burn down all of civilization. Secondly, Islam doesn't want anyone taking a close look at it. The truth is Mohammed was a man who waged war. This is the whole historical premise for Jihad that the Islamists are constantly prattling on about. After he got chased out of Mecca, he fled to Yathrib(now Medina) where he found sanctuary. He later conquered Mecca and killed his enemies, and slaughtered the Jews of Medina because he had no more use for them. So they want Jihad but they don't want anyone to call their founder a man of war. Not only are they throwing a tantrum but they are throwing a contradictory one. Criticizing Mohammad carries the death penalty in most Muslim countries. I can't think of any other religion where criticizing a religious founder will get you killed. Yeah, I know the moral relativists see all religions as equally evil, especially if it is a religion practiced in the west, but I can't think of anyone getting jail time or killed because they made fun of Jesus Christ. Thirdly, we have the Muslim world beating the war drums because they didn't like what someone said. The actions of the Muslim world are not one of a peaceful civilization bent on coexistence. This agression can't be blamed on the Crusades, Colonialism, or Imperialism. Islam has been waging war or trying to wage war for 1400 years. This is a clash of civilizations. We have western civilization which produced Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Homer, Virgil, Cicero, St. Augustine, Thomas Aquinas, Dante, Chaucer, Gibbons, Voltaire, Cervantes, Locke, Hume, Goethe, Da Vinci, Michaelangelo, Washington, Lincoln, Chruchill, Luther just to name a few. A civilization that gives us freedom of speech, democracy and capitalism. Against a civilization that can brag about Qutb, Arafat, Hussein, and gives us Sharia law, suicide bombings, IED's and gets hysterical over a cartoon.
