Jan. 22, 2006 Senator Harry Reid D-NV (Senate Minority Leader) has stated an apology to the Republican side or the Abramoff affair. According to the article: “Reid Apologizes for Criticizing GOP Senators On Ethics”, AP, Friday, January 20, 2006: “Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid on Thursday apologized to 33 Republican senators singled out for ethics criticism in a report from his office titled "Republican Abuse of Power." "The document released by my office yesterday went too far and I want to convey to you my personal regrets," Reid said in a letter. "I am writing to apologize for the tone of this document and the decision to single out individual senators for criticism in it." This is interesting. Harry Reid was the recipient of more than $68,000 Abramoff dollars and his office insults 33 Republicans by name while ignoring 39 other Democrat Senators who accepted monetary donations, including a whopping $98,000 by Senator John Kerry. He was issuing this scathing rebuke of all that is Republican while helping fellow democrats draw up a hypocritical “ethics overhaul proposal”. It was as if the tainted Abramoff cash could only taint the Republicans. Harry himself said he was not going to return a single cent because he hadn’t done anything wrong to receive it. He failed to extend this same courtesy to any of his Republican colleagues while being generously condoning to his fellow Democratic money-grubbers. Quoting the article: “Reid came under attack Wednesday over the report, which was issued by his staff on Senate letterhead, even as he and fellow Democrats released ethics overhaul proposals.” The hypocrisy just rolls out of the left side of the Congress. At least the right side is willing to admit the possibility of double-sided wrongdoing. According to Reid, the Democrats are purer than the driven snow. But the Republicans are taking the correct view, even if the horse has already escaped the barn and joined the wild herd in the canyon: "The public trust is more important than party," said Ken Mehlman, the Republican National Committee chairman. "Which is why the first solution to the problem is rooting out those who have done wrong, without regard to party or ideology." I believe both parties of Congress have proven they can be bought. The President cannot function through the greed of these men and women who have allowed themselves to be compromised by the almighty dollar. The corrupt clowns of both sides have to be rooted out then voted out of these positions of power that allow their ideology of corruption to infect American law and American morality. Harry Reid writes a 27 page report naming only Republicans. That is intellectually dishonest, partisan and uncaring for the truth. Any report that fails to investigate his $68,000 largesse from Abramoff is also incomplete and untrustworthy. It is time to say goodbye to every member of Congress that is proven to have been bought by Abramoff, or the Communist Chinese (Sorry, could not resist that.) This came from the Democratic side: “Four Senate Democrats sent a letter to senior administration officials on Thursday calling on them to disclose any dealings with Abramoff such as meetings, memos or favors. The Democrats said the record should be "cleared and that any contact you or others in the administration have had with Mr. Abramoff be fully explained to the American people." If I were on the Republican side, my response would only be: “I’ll show you mine if you show me yours!” ------------ About the Author: Michael John McCrae has contributed over 500 articles to Useless-Knowledge.com.
