Jan. 22, 2006 The monied giants George Bush and Usama bin Laden shine golden in a hypnogogic audio-vision as boxers at Madison Square Garden. The deck all around their glowing feet is drenched in hot saliva, snot, and blood. All around these animated colossi yet staying behind the ropes millions of cockerel-sized rooters cockadoodle, scream, and call for more, More, MORE WAR! Outside this center of male machismo activity millions of flags and books are smoking and burning. Meanwhile, the visionary writhes and writes. The one giant pokes and the other giant and the poking goes on and on. At first the pokes are verbal. Then the pokes become deadly. The rooter-roosters keep crowing and yelling for more. One hopes that the pokes don't escalate to become thermonuclear or bacteriological pokes. Anyway, right now Bush and bin Laden each stand with a banner held high on a long pole, looking rather like the banner uplifted so high by Joan of Arc. See how each leader stands inflated with an air of divinely inspired self-righteousness. On the other hand, if President Bush were not there, another great American President would need to stand his ground and put up a strong front. Like what would YOU do if you were standing in his shoes? We all live in dangerous times, and we all depend upon strong men who take dangerous chances. Who ever said that human evolution would be free from risk? In his speech April 16, 2004 Usama bin Laden says, "The Zionist lobby is one of the most dangerous and most difficult figures of this group. God willing, we are determined to fight them." We see Bin Laden's God, the Jewish G-d, and George Bush's one true God Lord Jesus Christ are all in the same arena. However, if there truly is just a single true Deity, how can this ever be? Something's confusing the issue. Whose Book is holy? Which leader is anointed? Will the real Deity please stand up? Maybe in fact there is no real Deity, and our religious leaders are only gigantic bags of wind. 9-11. Is this just one more case of an eye for an eye? Didn't M.K. Gandhi say "An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind?" Meanwhile, in his blog "dedicated to the permanent and total discrediting of the work of Noam Chomsky and his fellow travelers," the blogger Benjamin Kerstein of Beersheva, Israel writes, "As the great French-Jewish philosopher Emmanuel Levinas pointed out, the concept of "an eye for an eye", according to the Jewish commentaries, is one of compensation and thus equalization. As opposed to the Christian metaphysic, which demands forgiveness, Jewish Law conceives of violence as an act of violation and thus domination. As such, it demands a recompense, or the world is lost." So dear reader, what do you say to the long-foreseen rapid exchange of thermonuclear warheads? The morality that worked for the Bronze Age still appropriate for the Information Age? This worry was making brows contort when I was an undergraduate back in '59. Why has no hypothetical solution to this problem of blocked human intelligence yet been researched and tested at the universities? Compassion comes without training and hits a young man like a thunderbolt. Conventional thinking is disintegrated as were Hiroshima and Nagasaki under the atomic fire. No compassion delivered those bombs, and no compassion protect a sensitive person from reality. Consequently a certain number of young men and women these days go to school and learn all the rules but eventually reality hits them and they become compassionate. Meher Baba was one example. One wonders how many young Middle-Easterners study the life and work of Meher Baba. The human race is facing a real problem now that our ancestors never had to face- the problem of worsening global destruction by fanatical human efforts. These efforts include economic warfare, and the destruction of provident nature, extinction of species, political warfare and the destruction of minority groups, genocide, and military warfare which well may lead to the destruction of all our descendants. How will this worsening problem truly be solved? If professional scientists don't focus on this issue, with at least as much effort as it took to build the first A-bombs and put a man on the Moon, and solicit new ideas from curious and creative persons like ourselves, who in G-ds's Name will address this issue intelligently? How do you think this problem will truly be solved? Abuse and intimidation are not the right answer. In another speech, his speech of February 11, 2003, Usama bin Laden invokes the Name of his God a full sixteen times on the first page alone! The man is surely sincere in his belief. In this speech bin Laden urged suicide attacks against Americans. One recalls that over sixty years ago large numbers of desperate Japanese men invoked the Name of their God and embarked on suicide missions. Today many Palestinians are doing a similar thing. It's sad to think that intelligent humanity has come to such an impasse. This mentality in a nuclear age is totally INSANE. If the mature leaders can't be intelligent and talk sense, sanity, and safety, then the younger people need to get online and share their constructive ideas and work together so that this madness will not be perpetuated much longer. If the university students and the young workers can't get together and figure out what to do, then the task must be undertaken by even younger people. Or maybe the young soldiers can just agree to lay down their arms and walk out on warfare. This might be the reason why over two thousand years ago one visionary Prophet wrote of the coming of the seemingly miraculous Great Peace (of The Messiah) at the end of history when a "little child shall lead." But frankly, young children by themselves can't make peace happen. To bring the needed change, and usher in the Age of Intelligence, Intelligent people just need to get busy and work both their wet brains and their electronic brains a heckuva lot harder without overloading their circuits and blowing their cools.
