Dec. 25, 2005 As this Christmas season comes to a close many wonder where this assault on our most sacred holiday comes from. How has Christmas become a villain and victim at the same time? It isn’t necessarily an assault on Christmas, it’s an assault on all of our traditions. There’re pseudo-intellectuals out there in academia who believe they and they alone are qualified to determine what is, is. They pass their ill-conceived knowledge on to young minds eager to achieve even before they know what achievements are. They’re left leaning liberal professors / instructors who have never ventured off campus far enough to learn what the real world consists of. Other than perhaps attending a Wal Mart sponsored afternoon seminar on marketing. Twice this past week, young persons engaged in acquiring a college educations told me there’s a law banning whishing anyone a Merry Christmas. When I ask who passed the law and who signed it into law I was told it was the Supreme Court who did it. This misinformation had to come from somewhere, where other than from a liberal college instructor. Even the media hasn’t gone that far off track. It’s sad these things gain legs. What’s even sadder is those at the bottom of the intellectual food chain are allowed to instruct young minds in preparation for entering the real world. Too many are willing to rely on “Who told them” rather than. “How they were able to come to that conclusion.” The process of thinking for ones self isn’t part of most college curriculums. Students enter colleges with enquiring minds and leave brainwashed in the belief liberalism is the answer to the world ills. For those who are truly motivated they soon realize liberalism is the cause of the world’s ills, not it’s salvation. Looking back on history the world is progressively improving with each generation. I can’t possibly document all the improvements I’ve seen in 75 years. I can tell you this life is a hell of a lot more comfortable now than when I came into this world. Graduates are sent into the world of business ill prepared to meet the challenges they will encounter. They go forth believe they’ll be able to cure all the ills of the world. They’ll be able to set straight what man has messed up. They were never taught in college everything is based on evolution and the law of evolution can’t be ignored. Leonardo da Vinci invented the helicopter yet it took a few centuries for technology to catch up to make it practical. So it is with so many things we aspire to, the ideas are there it takes time and technology to implement them. These things are rarely taught in college classes, rather they teach a premise someone isn’t doing enough for whatever it is not to be available now. They want instant gratification. Young men and women coming out of Colleges and Universities are taught to believe America is an evil place responsible for all the ills in the world. This is what the mainstream media, political leaders, and educators lead our young people to believe. When in fact there isn’t a single field of endeavor America doesn’t lead in. The humanities are leading the field. The pendulum never returns to the exact position it started from but it’s swinging away from liberalism and the assault on our traditions. Like the terrorists in Iraq the more they lose ground the louder, they become to compensate for their failings. Also like the terrorists in Iraq liberals aren’t achievers, they’re parasites who live off the efforts of others. It’s very easy to take from one to give to another. To create is far more difficult, but far more rewarding. In order to rid this country of the scourge of liberalism we need to revamp the educations system from the ground up. Day-care through postgraduate schools, leave no stone unturned. There’s still time for our children to become world leaders once more. If America’s falling behind in the sciences it’s because their not being taught. Political Correctness is of more importance to the current bunch of professors / instructors than math and science. Probably it’s more what they don’t know they can’t teach. To paraphrase Brooks Shields, “I graduated from Princeton and never took a class.” That’s a sad commentary on our institutions of higher learning. The good news is America is on the way back to being America we knew and loved. Christmas will once again be the Season of choice next year, I guarantee. ------------ About the author: Ken Hughes joined the Republican Party at the age of three.
