Sept. 30, 2005 You know how when you are relaxing at home after a busy day at work and the movie you are watching has just reached an interesting turning point when the phone rings. And you answer it after the third ring or so because you did not want to answer it anyway. Say the caller happens to be a representative from one of those companies who wants you to participate in some type of survey, which would require at least ten or more minutes of your time. So with one eye on the television and one ear barely paying attention to the caller at the other end, you say you don’t have the time, end the call and return to your movie. What if things were a little different, like doing that survey involved being the recepient of a few dollars, for your time of course? Would you participate then? For example, say you are strolling through the mall with a couple friends when some one steps in your path and asks if you would like to take part in a survey about whatever. And while you are in the process of nodding a no, that same person says, that you would receive five dollars for your time. So that no quickly changes to an okay, for you are now thinking, no matter what position you are in life, hey, five dollars is five dollars. And a few minutes later you do emerge five dollars richer than you were before you participated in that survey, thinking, now that was not so bad. And isn’t it amazing how quickly money can motivate some one into doing something he/she would not ordinarily do on his/her own time in the comforts of his/her own home? In the immortal words of Pink Floyd, “Money, it’s a hit…” will always mean what it does, for no matter what position one is in life, money is the one thing that will always be needed. Even if it motivates you into doing the smallest of tasks. ------------ About the author Judy Ramsook: My first book titled: "Karen's Adventure" which is about two young girls who go in search of their missing parents, is now available.
