Sept. 28, 2005 I have now read everything I can get my hands on and listened to all sorts of theories regarding Natalee Holloway. I have discovered that there are many intelligent and concerned people who want to solve this case and have dug deep into the far reaches of their minds and souls to try and do so. I keep coming back to one place and I can't leave it for long. No matter how much I read or theorize or agree or disagree with others I keep coming back to this one place. My greatest interest, hobby, thirst for understanding or whatever you want to call it is the study of psychopathy. Some call it sociopathy but few understand it. We know a few things for sure; psychopaths have certain traits in common and they exhibit those traits from early childhood in most cases. A large percentage of them start fires, torture small animals, and wet the bed. It is fairly well known that they all blend into society and become whatever they must become to be a part of whatever group they belong too. They can display characteristics of love, sympathy, anger and every other emotion that the average person feels and shows with one huge difference; they cannot FEEL those feelings except when it concerns themselves. They are simply born without the ability to feel empathy for another human being or animal and they cry tears of remorse only for themselves when they are in pain or caught. I am rendering this explanation of this personality disorder because of the place that I mentioned that I keep coming back to regarding Natalee Holloway and what happened to her. That place is the place where Joran Vander Sloot exists. An only child who cannot be controlled, who is allowed to stay out to all hours of the night drinking and gambling and even has private quarters of his own while still a minor and still living at home. A child who's mother can't control him and a father who indulges his every whim to keep him close. They, his parents, can't admit (or maybe can't even see) that their only son is missing a basic component that separates humans from the baser instincts of predatory animals. He is missing a conscience. That is NOT an easy thing to understand or accept especially when it's in one's own child. The sweat pouring down Paulus Vander Sloot's face when some of us saw him on television was the sweat of a man who is desperate to save his son from HIMSELF. The delusions of the mother who claims that her boy is "A good boy, a scholar, a sportsman headed for a perfect future" are what she wants and not what she has in her child. What she has is an uncontrollable boy who has no real feelings INSIDE, regardless of the displays of affection that he shows to the world on the OUTSIDE. I am not Joran's therapist, nor am I a Psychiatrist, merely a student of human nature and sociopathy in particular, and yet I was able to feel inside that Joran was not right...not quite there. I felt the same feeling when I saw Scott Peterson and when I wrote a thesis on Ted Bundy long ago in college. So I am back to that dark place where I started from. It always leads me to Joran Vander Sloot and I know in my heart that someday Joran will do again what he has done before because he won't be able to stop himself. To me, that is the only hope that anyone has of ever finding out what happened to Natalee Holloway. Follow Joran and someday there may be an answer. It might not be for a while because he is running scared right now...but it WILL happen again...It must. The Kalapoe's are merely bit players in Joran's movie. I hope that I am wrong and that this place that I keep returning too is pure myth. I hope that Natalee is being held somewhere as a pretty, blonde, sex slave because as horrible as that is, she would still be alive and where there is life there is hope.
