Sept. 27, 2005 I have been to many of the standard pizza restaurants and take out places. Pizza Hut, Pappa Johns, Domino's and (where my husband and I had our first date) God Father's Pizza are chain restaurants that can be found all over this nation. All these places make decent pizza, if you want a fast pie. There is a restaurant in Alaska that in my opinion made the best pizza next to a Greek restaurant outside Poughkeepsie, New York. The name of that restaurant is Muldoon Pizza, on Muldoon Road in the city of Anchorage. It is not a flashy restaurant but a hole in the wall place the locals go to for fresh ingredients on a hand tossed crust that is thick and tasty. For a couple of decades, I ordered this pizza when ever I wanted pizza. As some might know I moved from Alaska a few years ago to follow my military husband. This made a hunt for decent pizza. I settled for the chain restaurants because I found on the West Coast that there was not a great pizza place. Plus, they placed weird ingredients on pizza like avocado, broccoli and chicken. For some that is good, but for me a person who is picky on what goes on my pizza those ingredients did not float my appetite. I finally made it back to the East Coast last month. And yesterday I went to a restaurant shaped in the form of a white castle. This restaurant is a Greek-Italian place that makes the best fresh pizza I have had in years. The restaurants name is The Castle, off of Jefferson Avenue, New Port News, Virginia. I enjoyed the Greek salad and a large pepperoni, mushroom and Italian sausage pizza. The food was great. The interior of the place was warm and we watch the wait staff flame cheese for other patrons.
I would like to know of other great pizza restaurants in America. If someone could tell me of local eateries I
might seek them out and try. Pizza is a passion.
