Sept. 27, 2005 What in the world has possessed some of you writers? You are denigrating a woman who has lost a child. HER child...not yours. She is feeling something that NO parent should ever feel. She has lost a huge piece of her own being and most likely she will never get it back. How can you have the nerve to criticize her or call her a "reality star" or any other derogatory name for wanting to find her child? I am mind-boggled by the lack of empathy and caring of some of you. What if it were YOUR child? How would you react? Would you sit meekly by and whine from your rocking chair in the comfort of your home? Would you sit silent and hope that some other person will speak for your daughter or son? Would you do NOTHING? You may not like Beth Twitty's methods and you may not like her background but you CANNOT fault her for trying to scream from the rooftops that her daughter is lost and all she wants is some answers as to why. She saw her child off on a pleasant and happy journey and had hopes for her future. She looked forward to her daughter attending college, graduating, marrying, bearing children....and than NOTHING. A void so deep and so dark that unless it's happened to you, you cannot know what that must feel like. You may believe that Natalee is alive, that she is a girl who was promiscuous or whatever floats your boat...but you cannot believe that this woman is doing anything that any other grieving and desperate parent would do given even half her courage. Leave the woman alone for God's sake. Hasn't she lost enough without some fools dragging her thru the mud and making a mockery of her grief? Some of the articles on here have disgusted me. They disgust me because they show a COMPLETE lack of human compassion and empathy. There is a word for a person who lacks in empathy for others and that word is sociopath.
