Sept. 25, 2005 Well, as this mystery slowly disappears into the sunset, it is time to summarize the truths from the FACTS... Myth #1: Aruba should be BOYCOTTED! FACT: From a personal standpoint, it is up to the individual, of course. From a governemental position, it is not a fair remedy. If there were a pattern of young girls who had gone missing because it was Aruba's fault, maybe a boycott would be justified. But, this appears to be the work of a few young thugs who went beyond the boundary of fun and games on the evening of May 29. Aruba cannot police everyone of its citizens. If the authorities did cover up the investigation, the blame there would be more on the Dutch government, not Aruba. Myth: Joran and the Kalpoe brothers are innocent because no charges were brought against them. FACT: They are not legally guilty. Innocent is another matter. Look at the statements from them and Paulus Van der Sloot that have DOCUMENTED over the four months: "Something bad happened to Natalee that night." "Deepak raped and murdered Natalee and buried her near the fisherman's hut." "We all had sex with her...she acted like a SLUT!" "We dropped her off at the Holiday Inn. There was a security guard there." "No body, no CASE!" Innocent people? No. Provable guilt? NO. They got away with sexual assault at the very LEAST... Myth: Beth had no business buying a $35,000.00 automobile for her son, Matt. FACT: She didn't buy the car. It was a birthday gift from Matt's grandmother. Once again, Beth takes a hit for something she didn't do from those who are quick to condemn her. Myth: Beth Twitty is unjustified in how she searched for her missing daughter. FACT: When it comes to finding your child, there are no rules. While it is true that Beth verbally went past her boundaries in calling the boys, "criminals," and accusing the authorities in Aruba of a cover up, her overall behavior was consistent with a desperate parent who loved her child enough to save her. This included the fund-raising, her appearance on Dr. Phil, her use of the media and tireless and unrelenting pressure on the Aruban investigative team. Of all the criticism I heard concerning this woman, I never heard ONE person rip into her who had a child disappear under strange circumstances. The overwhelming majority of critics came from people who were either childless or had not experienced a loss of a son or a daughter in the way that Beth did. Myth: The Media overkilled this story. FACT: Untrue. The media played it up because it brought in PROFITS! They saw a financial opportunity for rationgs and grabbed it. That is the American way. There is nothing wrong with a company trying to make money. There is nothing wrong with Greta padding her ratings. It may not seem right to a purist or a socialist, but it is what this country stands for at its core. The media did not create the system, they just take advantage of it. We created the system. We were the ones who gave the media power, not Geraldo or Sean or O'Reilly. Myth: Natalee is alive somewhere conning her parents. FACT: Other than the possibility that Natalee was sold to a party in South America or the Middle East; she is most likely at the bottom of the sea off the island of Aruba. Whether she was murdered at the hands of the three boys or their friends, or she accidentally died from an overdose or the trauma caused by the sexual assault, her body was removed for the puprose of protecting the future of those who convinced her to get into the car that fateful night. Myth: All writers for UK have been honorable in covering this story. FACT: All writers for UK have been allowed by the First Amendment to express their views concerning this story, many of them have not been honorable. I have appreciated Timothy Stelly, Judy Ransook, Meri Ulrich, Michael John McCrae, Brooks Mick, Donald Symank and even, Robert Reyes. I like Robert. I think he is a fair man and roots for the underdog. It was because of him that I got involved in UK as a writer to begin with. I may not always agree with him, but he is a class act. Unlike some of the writers in here who operate under a false resume and name, (because they have been banned from several other websites for their underhanded literary attacks on people) Robert keeps it within journalistic boundaries. I respect him for that. Myth: My credentials are questionable. FACT: Speaking of writers who love to attack other people with misinformation...I have won three Emmy awards in television. I was involved in the entertainment industry for a total of seven years and was also nominated for three other Emmy awards that I did not win. I was the resident comedian on ABC-TV's, "Kids are People, Too!" for three years and won my Emmy awards in Los Angeles and Chicago in 1982 and 1988 for doing what I love best, hosting and writing for children's shows. I do appreciate Dayo Gould for attempting to research me, to no avail, (does he do ANYTHING right?) so to him I will say that I apologize for not having a better looking face or hairline, but the picture he is so obsessed with was taken on my wedding day in Las Vegas. You can ask the wedding chapel about the bare walls and the nail holes. I decided not to wear my famous leather jacket at the ceremony, Dayo, or whatever your real name is,. I am sure you understand why. As for my daughter, I do not mention her name or post any pictures of her because of people like you who would smear her personally if given the chance. I wish you the best of luck in finding a man you DO find attractive. I am not a great future partner for you, being a heterosexual. But, thank you for taking so much time to notice my physical appearance. My prayers go with you in your efforts to find Mr. Right! I took particular interest in Natalee Holloway's case because it was more than just a disappearance of another person gone missing....If the playing field had been level, I probably would not have been as passionate as I have been in trying to find the truth. I will ALWAYS support a parent, a relative or a friend who will do anything they can to find a loved one. I will NEVER understand why they are criticized for doing that. But, I will always respect the opinions of others who do not agree with me, as long as they keep it impersonal and journalistically responsible. The truth is, none of us who write for Useless Knowledge are all that brilliant. If we were, we wouldn't be in here. We would be making a living with our thoughts and our keyboards. This is just an outlet for our personal passions. Sometimes it is just for fun.
