Sept. 21, 2005 If you are in touch with friends and family members then you talk to or communicate with people on some sort of basis. Be it frequently or seldom, you talk to someone and they are probably talking about you, even when you are not around. Of course you learn about the talks they have about you when you are not around through the proverbial grapevine. But a friend recently asked me something that indeed made me think about another matter entirely, for the friend asked, how come no one speaks of the dead long after the deceased has been paid tribute to on the day of the funeral? It’s not that no one wants to talk of the dead, the thing is, some people might not want to stir up old feelings of grief or how much that deceased person may have suffered before death claimed his/her life, if indeed that person did endure a time of suffering. For after some one is gone, there is just one thing to talk about, his/her past. How that person lived and what illness or incident led to his/her death. But remember, just because some one who is no longer with us is not talked about does not mean he/she is not thought of or remembered. Because he/she is. It could be during those quiet moments of the day or evening when you are reflecting on the day’s events or that person’s birthday or holiday that he/she celebrated with you and other family members and or friends. For no one is truly forgotten just because he/she is not being discussed or talked about long after their presence in this world is no more. He/she is remembered everytime you glance at their photo or recall some fond memory of happier days when they were still here with you. And being remembered is a precious entity in the world, just as long as there is some one who is still around to remember you, that is. Some one does not necessarily have to be talked about in order to be remembered. ------------ About the author Judy Ramsook: My first book titled: "Karen's Adventure" which is about two young girls who go in search of their missing parents, is now available.
