Meeting The Messiah On A Mountain

By John L. Waters
Sept. 20, 2005

U-K columnist Thomas Keyes seems determined to argue that mountains are unmovable. I say that when a cloudburst comes and roars down upon the fire-ravaged montane landscape left in ashes, however, tons of rocks and mud soon get washed down towards the valley. I also say that earthquakes shake, rattle, and roll down whole mountain chains, and boulders come crashing down on many a hapless tree. I say as well that over geologic time whole mountain ranges have been totally levelled by geologic forces.

Furthermore, I add with consummate delight that from every mountainside freedom rings a liberty bell that tells us all that in the USA we still are free to disagree with Thomas Keyes or with anyone else whose argument is so tissue thin you can see right through it. I also hope that as long as the USA exists, there will be this freedom to challenge what is spoken, done, or written.

How can Mr. Keyes argue with a straight face that mountains are unmovable? What the heck is he driving at? Anyhow, most of Mr. Keyes' article is travelogue and statistics, not argument at all. So why does he bring up "The Messiah" right at the end of this article? This seems like an entirely different topic!

Anyone interested in "The Messiah" and messiahship should study not Thomas Keyes but the old prophecies as well as those uncommon modern men who have recently been hailed as "The Messiah." Don't take my word as an authority! Don't take Mr. Keyes' word, either. Go directly to the SOURCE.

Indeed, to understand messiahship, you can legitimately study the often promoted lives and works of Jiddu Krishnamurti, Meher Baba, and Adi Da. These men have been hailed by their followers as "The Messiah." Not one of them felt any need to try and make a mountain move. In fact, all the mountains move without any help from any Messiah. The rotation of the Earth itself makes mountains move. In fact we all are moving very rapidly along with the mountains because of Earth's rotation.

Is that nothing but a funny twist of language? Maybe so and maybe not. In any event, it's a FUNNY turn of events on Useless Knowledge Magazine, that a man or a woman is expected to prove that the power of faith is real by just moving a mountain by the force of his or her personal WILLPOWER or FAITH. Even though it seems funny, I've had two or three skeptics tell me that if I can't prove my faith by moving a mountain that I'm conning myself or I'm tricking other people or that I'm a fraud or a deluded idiot and so I should stop talking about this subject. But look. It's THEIR personal EGO and THEIR personal WILL trying to order me what to do. That doesn't work. Skeptic or not, you can't BULLY God. Whether you believe God exists or not, you can't tell God what to do. Neither can I. I submit to the awesome POWER.

In The Bible it says, "Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God." For example, Mt 4:7 says "Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God." The quote is also found in Dt 6:16 and Luke 4:12. I say the same thing. Why need IT be said again? There are cosmic forces utterly beyond our control. We celebrate them! We submit to them.

Speaking of cosmic forces, the cosmic forces of diamonds, gold, and other wealth spread the fame of Meher Baba, Jiddu Krishnamurti, and Adi Da far and wide. Each one of these Teachers found rich devotees who supported them with lavish gifts of publishing, lavish gifts of land, and lavish gifts of audience. The full messianic promise, however, was not ever given by any one of these widely-promoted men. Furthermore, merely arguing about whether mountains move or whether real faith moves real mountains is an utter waste of our time.

What is important today and what remains to be understood and mastered by science is what Swami Rudrananda and Adi Da called "yogic force." My present work is promoting this study of "yogic force" at Humboldt State University. I am doing this promoting by (1) posting 8x11 fliers on local bulletin boards that are so clogged with similar leaflets that each day I have to uncover mine or stick another one up. (2) making repeated hikes three blocks down the hill to the Psychology Department and then interviewing individual psychology professors to see if any of them will support this study and help carry out a legitimate research study with my help, and (3) going to the Lumberjack Newspaper seeking an editor who will do a story.
