Sept. 18, 2005 The flooding is all but gone and the debris is all but washed away. Only the horrific memories embedded in our minds remind us that Orleans is a ghost town and hapless to regain any self dignity. Maybe this is a blessing in disguise. The ravages of a city with its public running amuck and with keeping this in mind, this, the same said public being forced out of their homes could be the best thing for this city. I can understand people starving and having no water or supplies for their children doing what they did for survival. I can’t see looting for televisions and furniture for homes that just aren’t there anymore, but these people are now living in places that wont put up with that crap and will soon learn that we have plenty of rooms for them in the jails. Getting back to a clean sweep, New Orleans has been given the chance to start over. Bigger and better will this once great place be again. We will not see this in twenty five years but within a few years or sooner. People are already starting to build and regain what was once had. Stores are starting to open and the public that has one two things in there hearts which are responsibility and pride are still there to rebuild. These people will make it bigger and better. These people will make this South rise once again showing others that you can’t keep good people down. Now, as for those that took opportunities to pillage and run amuck, good luck and may god help you to start a new somewhere else. Orleans doesn’t want the likes of you anymore. For the people that have only the good of this great city in there souls should go back. Your heartland needs you there. Make it great, greater then it has ever been. Build homes bigger and better, plant the trees that made it beautiful and have babies. Teach your youth pride. Teach other Americans that Orleans is not dead just in a transformation stage. We back you one hundred percent. Hey what are Goomba’s for. This is what Americans do. We pick up the peaces and show the rest of the world that you can’t keep a good nation down. ------------ About the author: Bob D Caterino is a writer that we all either hate or love.
