Sept. 12, 2005 About a year or so ago, I was contacted and asked to write as a columnist for Useless Knowledge. Because I was already a "professional writer" my initial response was to decline, since there was no pay involved. Then I surfed the site and was entertained and enlightened by some of the stuff I read, so I decided--what the hell. And I came on board. I was very pleased and surprised with the number of responses to my columns. UK proved to have a very responsive and loyal readership. In one of the E-mails I received, a young lady who was an aspiring writer asked if I thought that writing for Useless Knowledge would be a good starting point, to which I responded yes. The cool thing about "any" writing, or what I like to call "planting a seed" is that you never know what fruit it will produce. Though I haven't posted anything in a a while, due to my busy schedule, I do still read others on the site. My experience writing for UK, I found, was helpful in terms of developing concepts and discipline for my current column. I am now a full-fledged, paid columnist! This, in addition to my other writing gigs. Check my column out-- "JENNIFER'S GEMS" at www.onlinedatingmagazine.com and tell me what you think! UNTIL THEN...
