Sept. 11, 2005 I hate it when I’m right and everyone else is wrong. Most of the articles I wrote regarding Hurricane Katrina, I expressed a positive message for the victims of the flood. I continual said the people of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast are a special breed, their Cajuns not easily spooked. I said they’ll survive to greet the next hurricane that decides to visit their part of this wonderful country of ours. There are only three things people can be assured of, birth, living, and death everything else is a crapshoot, it’s what we make it. The supposed catastrophic disasters are in fact only normal incidents man hasn’t learned to cope with. Man may rest assured as long as nature prevails there’ll be hurricanes, tornados, blizzards, heat waves, mudslides and all those other things nature provides to torment us. Mother Nature says, It’s my way live with it sucker. We’re learning not as many bodies previously predicted to be out there are there. The pumps are coming on line faster than predicted, the ground is drying out faster than predicted. Once the military got involved things started to move forward. Politics curtailed all efforts to evacuate the city. Arrogant men and women whose political image meant more to them than the lives of thousands of people. That should forever haunt them. The lights of the downtown section of the city are on and glowing. The only things lacking in the French Quarter is water, electricity, and customers. Otherwise its “Let The Good Times Roll.” New Orleans is giving us a message, don’t buy the liberal rhetoric and the media hype. “I’m the same living, breathing New Orleans, slightly damaged but still alive, don’t count me out.” When the people return to New Orleans, and return they will. I think we can expect to see a new attitude in Louisiana politics. I doubt the same old, same old will be tolerated in the future. Lets look at what we have learned from this disaster. When a young white National Guardsmen risks his life dangling a couple of hundred feet below a helicopter on a cable not much larger than a thread, it’s difficult to call him a racist when he’s bringing a black mother and child to safety. How can you call those Houstonians who brought food, water , and clothing to the Astrodome then stuck around to help however they could, how do you call them racists? The real racists are the black liberal pollutions, talent_less black performers, black slave-master leaders. Liberal white want-to-be’s who think all blacks are second-class citizens who must be protected and cajoled at any cost. Blacks aren’t stupid, they just aren’t very smart. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be buying into the Liberal Democratic clap trap that’s deliberately designed to keep them subservient and poor. If blacks took an honest look at what liberal policy has done to their communities, they’d be screaming “Burn Baby Burn.” The results of Hurricane Katrina will define race relations for years to come. White America opened its pocket books, homes, and hearts to the black victims of the disaster and deserves credit not ridicule. If the Howard Dean’s and his Democratic Party, Al Sharptens, Jesse Jackson’s and all those other black mouth pieces are allowed to turn this into a racist political battle then race relations will suffer. With Gods blessing maybe, blacks will wake up to the realization they’re being had for fun and profit by a bunch of black bigoted ingrates. There’s no doubt the politics between the Governor of Louisiana, the Mayor of New Orleans, and the Federal Government created this disaster. It could have been prevented or at least minimized. To my fellow black columnists who write for this web site, don’t undo all the white community has done for the black victims of this disaster, by falling into the racist bigotry being spread by many so-called black leaders. Write a positive message giving credit without caveats. Americans of all color, race, and religion have set aside any bias they may have and come to the rescue without regard for color. This is no time to divide the races. Black politicians and liberal celebrities are dancing on the grave of Dr. Martin Luther King. He gave his life to see the races come together. Now what we see happening those who revere his memory are disrespecting the very things he stood for. I believe America’s preformed spectacularly under the circumstances. There’ll be time to asses blame when the important things have been taken care of. Now we need to hear a positive message. ------------ About the author: Ken Hughes is prone to an occasional grammatical error and an occasional misspelled word.
