Vince McMahon's Desperate Antics Continue

By Eric Schomburg
Sept. 9, 2005

Is it safe to say Vince McMahon realizes that his product, the WWE, sucks? We can now. The WWE, specifically, Vince McMahon, Johnny Ace, and Stephanie McMahon, have now established a legal way to retrieve and keep trademark names. The problem is, they are wrestlers’ names that have been somehow legally duped to sign their trademark names they have been using since they started wrestling.

The most obvious example of this legal BS is "the Dudley Boys." OOPS! I guess I can’t say the Dudley Boys without Vince having a stroke and Johnny Ace having an immediate halt mailed to me. To that I say F-U, and I don’t mean John Cena’s lousy finisher.

Mark LoMonica, aka, Bubba Ray Dudley, can not legally use the name "Bubba Ray Dudley" at any wrestling venue. Devon Hughes can’t legally use "D-Von Dudley," but he can use Devon since it’s his real name. What is worse is despite that Mark and Devon can’t use their tag-team name they have been using for years, but they can’t even use their trademark look. Glasses, tye-dye t-shirts, etc. Personally, as a wrestling fan, this just proves my point about the WWE and Vince McMahon. That A) The WWE is garbage. B) Vince McMahon is a prick that despite saying that he does good business for the fans, he does "good" business for himself and "his" company. Remember something Vinny, your daddy gave you your job when you were living in a trailer in North Carolina. If your momma didn’t tell you that you were the son of Vince McMahon, Sr, your stepfather would still be beating your ass.

"Justin Credible" can no longer be used by Peter Polaco, despite that he’s been using it in the ECW for years, but I guess when Vince McMahon bought the ECW, he bought EVERYTHING. It’s a shame that Vince doesn’t care about his employees, the fans of wrestling, and for that matter his own product. Vince McMahon is now the new Eric Bischoff. Win anyway you can, even if that means destroy those that worked so hard to make your company what it is today. It's sad to see that Vince McMahon, a guy who claims that he isn't afraid of competition, is scared of competition. Which leads me to my next subject.

"OCTOBER 1ST ON SPIKE IS TNA WRESTLING!" This was aired last Monday on WWE RAW. Such balls TNA has, not to mention Spike. Trust me, I’ll be watching TNA. I hope that TNA gets so big that they will give WWE a run for their money. Maybe wrestlers like the Dudleys, Justin Credible, Billy Kidman, and Spike Dudley will go to TNA and make WWE regret ever screwing with them.

So, what is the explanation for all of this? It’s obvious isn’t it? Vince and the WWE realize that TNA has better matches and product value as far as giving fans a good show. However, instead of upping the ante, Vince just uses lawyers instead of using product value. What's wrong, Vince? Afraid of competition? Because the last time you were in competition your company just about went belly-up.

Another reason why the WWE is losing their value? Simple. Stephanie McMahon has her dirty little fingers on the trigger and daddy-dearest is letting her run the show. I’ve always said that Stephanie McMahon-Levesque will be the death of the WWE. She and her husband Paul Levesqure (Triple H) pretty much run the WWE like Hitler ran Nazi, Germany. Just like Hitler, the Nazi party known as the WWE will crumble. The fans are getting fed up with the lack of stories, lack of ideas, and lack of loyalty to the their intelligence and their employees.

Shawn Michaels has been talking along with the Undertaker saying that they are not happy with how the WWE is going. The WWE is lacking in everything that is supposed to be entertaining, and this is Vince trying to upstage and assassinate a lot of potential stars by taking their trademark names.

I believe the fans should take a stand to this. Imagine Chris Jericho without the Jericho? The WWE probably has the rights to "Jericho." How about Glen Jacobs instead of Kane? How about Mark Calaway instead of the Undertaker? Imagine Adam Copeland going to an independent show and not being "Edge?"

Let’s not forget the "Legends." Vince McMahon has now introduced these "Legends" contracts which are contracts for former wrestlers that have wrestled in the ECW, WCW, or WWF/E. The recent "Legend" to have signed was Bret Hart, or as he is known as "The Hitman." I have a bad feeling that Bret Hart just signed his Hitman name to Vince. So, if Bret would go to TNA, which he has talked to do he CAN’T, repeat, CAN’T use the Hitman name. I’m only assuming, but I think Vince would do it if he could. The WWE will probably go after Sting next, if he was smart he won't sign any deal with the WWE. I actually heard they were going to sign Sabu as well for an ECW legends contract. Sabu should stay away from any contract Vince puts in his face. If you want to keep your name, stay sane, and stay away from Vinny Mac.

Of course there is a little voice in my head that is saying, "how do you know this isn’t a work or angle?" While this is highly doubtful, it could possibly be. I doubt Vince is going to spend so much cash in having the rights to the trademarks just to have them in his possession without doing something with them. If this is the case then it’s a nice touch to kayfabe, which is slang for "real wrestling angle." However, this could also hurt, which it obviously has, to the credibility of WWE and Vince doing "good business" for wrestling. Yes, Vince has said on many accounts, including the DVD "Monday night wars," that he hated Bischoff for not doing what’s best for the wrestling business. Wrestling business, not Vince’s business. yet, now Vince is being a paradox and contridicting everything he says. Is it me, or is Vince McMahon getting so old that when he does his ABC's he thinks nile comes after 'C.' Get it?

Whatever the case may be, whether a work or real, Vince McMahon telling his former employees not to use their wrestling name is a sure way of knowing that the WWE is not a wrestling organization to work for. I remember watching a commercial about the UFC, which ironically is on the same station as Spike, in which the UFC says that wrestling is "FAKE!" This obviously angered Vince McMahon, and Spike pulled it, but having TNA commercials, UFC commercials on RAW isn’t doing Vince McMahon and the WWE any favors.

What are the reasons why the WWE sucks so bad now? Once again, Stephanie McMahon running the show isn’t doing the WWE any favors. No elaborate stars. John Cena? Batista? Eugene? Hulk Hogan? Give me a break. How about giving the World title to Christian? Put Muhammed Hassan back on television. And for God’s sake, Vince, FIRE YOUR WRITERS! While you’re at it, FIRE STEPHANIE MCMAHON! I’m sorry, but your daddy may have started the company, but your daughter will decimate the WWE one match at a time.

Of course with all the ranting and venting I have done about Vince McMahon and the WWE, it doesn’t matter, because TNA will be the next WCW and hopefully be able to defeat the WWE and finally do what Eric Bischoff couldn’t do and that’s bury the WWE for good.

Here’s the thing, Vince. Remember Scott Hall and Kevin Nash? They were two guys who were known as Razor Ramon(Hall) and Diesel(Nash) in the WWF/E, but did the wrestling fans care? Nope. When Hall and Nash went to WCW as their real names they became more popular and made WCW even more popular. Which lead to 80-plus weeks of pure hell for the WWF/E. This trademarking legal crap isn’t going to halt the talent that the Dudley’s, Kidman, and anyone else that you screwed over, have as a wrestler.

Maybe for trademark sakes, you should buy the name Vince Hitler, because that is what the fans and the employees of the WWE should call you.
