Sept. 8, 2005 The struggle to communicate one's need begins with a baby's piercing cry. Some children command more attention than others, and some children appeal more than others. Child or adult, the great communicator who appeals the most communicates something that the people want or need greatly. There are several channels of communication, and each sensory channel is used to attract a devoted following. (1) the leader appeals visually to people. People see what they want to see in their leader. (2) the leader uses speech and music as well, and communicates authority in voice tone. A strong low-pitched voice helps. The leader's voice doesn't waver or crack. (3) The leader's body odor doesn't offend and the leader's car, residence, office, and dress command respect. Indeed, people are drawn to a leader like this as surely as wasps are drawn to jam at a summer picnic. Humans remain captives of instinct. In choosing a writer to follow, people go by instinct. There are so many writers! You can't even begin to survey them all! Only a few writers get promoted by the mass media, and not all writers appeal physically. In fact writing itself is a pastime that isolates a person from social contact, and as you yourself are reading, you are not interacting with other people and commanding respect. In fact a writer is the Big Mama whose tit you keep sucking. So to appeal, a great writer caters to your deepest desires. Your sense of God is stimulated when your brain is stimulated in certain ways. When a person appears to be "divine," it's because he or she stimulates your sense of God. If you need to feel your God sense is fulfilled, God is like the milk your Big Mama provides. Then you will often go to church and/or you will often read those writers whose products stimulate your sense of God. You might not ever meet the "divine" author, and if you did you might not be impressed via the ordinary sensory channels. If you were sensitive in the "divine" sense, though, you would feel the person's "divinity" just as the infant feels the Big Mama's great round breasts full of warm sweet milk. The "divine" is the great Comforter. Matthew Alper explains the human need for the Great Comforter in his book "The "God" Part of the Brain." In addition, scientists are describing various brain center activities associated with the sense of God. No longer can a scientific skeptic seriously argue that "There is no God." Atheism is a dead issue, thanks to progressive science. Furthermore, with God's help, that is to say by integrating and using more parts of his or her brain, a human being can do a lot better. ------------ About the author: John L.
