Sept. 5, 2005 So by now America must have sent over one billion dollars to the victims of the hurricane. Food and supplies are pouring in and all must be well, right? I don’t know why we send money to these aid groups when it is obvious the money does not get to the victims. We could have built a new house for every victim but the money just goes towards other things. This friends is the sad problem we have in this country. All hands are held out taking a part of the pie and the hands aren’t the victim’s hands. There are Good Americans and greedy Americans. The greedy Americans filter the money donated and then play god with the rest of it. The same thing happened when ”the homeless” thing was big. Opportunity knocks and the greedy American is at the door. The poor victim can’t do anything about it and the people donating the bucks are not aware, they just think they are doing a great thing for someone. It is like the story goes. I give a thousand dollars. Now half goes towards the cost of staffing. Half of the rest goes towards gas and food. What’s left goes to the poor which isn’t squat. I think if we donate food and dollars to a certain cause then the things donated should be handed right to the victims personally. Huey P. Long, candidate for the presidency of these United States once said. “America has enough money to give all its citizens one million dollars, a home and a car. What they do with it after that is up to them. If they lose it then it is there loss.” If we gave these donations straight to each victim, without skimming over three quarters of it they would be in good shape.
