Oct. 31, 2005 When our founding fathers first thought of how to make a new country from the colonies of the British, I am sure they thought "Hey, let's limit freedoms for all and give everything to the wealthy so they can enslave us, just like in England." Or maybe not. You see, they fought England to be free, not to be exactly like them. Unfortunately, the powers that be and the minority of Americans want to be just that" Limiters. My favorite idea is that voters make decisions based on issues that do not necessarily directly affect them. Abortion is my favorite. While I am not having one soon, I am for not telling someone what to do with their body. I also find it funny that a party that favors little or no governance over the people tell the individual what they can and cannot due when they get pregnant. My second favorite thing about issue politics is religion, as if it really has anything to do with how we are governed. I say we set up little communes, or reservations, for the religious folk so that they can live a bubble outside of my spheres of influence. The fact that they are gaining any kind of voice in government is scary since they are technically not supposed to. Just keep your beliefs off of me, thank you. What I am really happy about is how it is okay to lie, cheat and steal as long as you are of one party or another. If Tom DeLay were a Democrat then the right would have a field day with him. Stop defending someone just because they belong to a certain party. I know all the Republican voters have got to be close to cracking after their chosen leaders have made complete fools of themselves. I know that the Dems feel the same whenever their leaders step out of line (see historic Gary Hart, Ted Kennedy and Bill Clinton). Our founding fathers would be embarrassed that we became just like England of the 18th century. They would be more embarrassed that Europe and Canada are more progressive than we are. They would be ashamed that conservatives would even have a place at the table since all conservatives really seem to want is to tell us what to do with our lives without the rest of us infringing on their lives. Let's all hope for change and soon. I would say pray but, let's face it, God isn't blessing America. If he is, he is just letting it hold onto the edge until we change it our dang selves.
