 By Argile Stox Oct. 30, 2005 So; it appears that my last article has fueled a firestorm of debate in my e-mail box. Good. I am elated that supporters of the Right-Wing Republican Conservative Movement are recognizing that Mr. Scooter Libby's “faulty memory” will not shield him or the Vice President from the ramifications of duplicating and initiating Richard M. Nixon’s Administrations’ dirty tricks. The faulty memory defense worked for President Ronald Reagan; however, the citizens of the United States are educated and wise enough not to fall for that excuse, again. The outing of a CIA agent due to her then ambassador husband’s disagreement with President George W. Bush’s handling of the Iraq situation and the war that ensued embarrassed the president, which initiated the conspiracy involving key members of the Bush Administration and the Vice Presidents’ advisors. Exposing the CIA agent was a deliberate action, to teach the ambassador a lesson. That action and lesson backfired. President George W. Bush’s second term is on life support. The main priority which must occupy the president’s mind at this very moment is his frantic search for a new vice president. The president must be aware that his carefully crafted house of cards will fall right into his lap at any moment. At this very moment, he must be consumed with the aspect of apologizing to the American people for the criminal actions of his administration. Mr. Libby not only revealed the name of a CIA agent and placed others agents in harms way, he broke a sworn oath to protect the security of the United States and its intelligence agencies. Below, is a text of an e-mail I receive defending Mr. Libby’s Actions: “…And the "enormity” of the charges? Basically, obstructing the investigation into a non-crime???? Libby simply didn't want his boss to "look" bad so he crossed the line. That's the kind of knee-jerk reaction you get from Republicans when they are the subject of constant attacks by a prejudiced media, they get a bit paranoid.” It appears that the writer is trying to justify Mr. Libby’s actions to cover-up the entire conspiracy. Vice President Dick Cheney was front and center in this conspiracy. Mr. Libby and Mr. Karl Rove were the henchmen who carried out Mr. Cheney’s plan. These individuals are the weakest link in the entire affair. The evidence against Mr. Cheney, Mr. Libby, and Mr. Rove is crystal clear and damnable. I would advise Mr. Libby & Mr. Karl Rove (when he is indicted) to accept a plea agreement. If Mr. Libby & Mr. Karl Rove fall on their swords and not implicate Mr. Cheney, then this entire matter will be yesterday’s news. If Mr. Libby & Mr. Rove decide to stand trial, then the entire conspiracy will be exposed. The Bush Administration will be shattered, and the integrity of the Presidency will collapse. It is the Nixon Administration all over again. If you do not pay attention to history, it will repeat itself. Some of the Republican talking heads on news programs state that the President George W. Bush’s second term will start again on Monday, October 31, 2005. Am I to believe that Mr. Bush was in a coma when he was sworn in for his second term, the government was on auto-pilot, and he just woke up? President George W. Bush decisions are based on information from his advisors. If his advisors’ thinking is faulty, then President Bush’s decisions will be faulty. President Lyndon B. Johnson learned too late that his advisor on the Viet Nam War - Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara, was inept and spinning the true facts of the war to suite his own agenda. Keep that thought in mind the next time the figures of the casualties in the Iraq War are printed and broadcast throughout the United States and the World.
