Visions Door, Life Of A Daughter

By Carl Tirpitz
Oct. 27, 2005

This poem is dedicated to my four Daughters. It traces the life from birth to adulthood and the birth of their own start of the Vision Door.

Oh the joy that fills our heart
When those fond memories do start
And visions past of joyful times
Echo within our mind in rhymes

That which is past are only dreams
Some laughs and some sad it seems
But past is gone and now is here
We choose each day to fill with cheer

We gain so much to fill the loss
Like the mighty oak with clinging moss
We gather strength by ageings plan
And stroll with nature hand in hand

We take each day and make it best
The reward will put our woes to rest
If we see joy in all things viewed
Our hearts will then be daily renewed

I see in visions door a blooming rose
The misty petals so moist as it glows
If only one petal from the rose departs
It changes that vision within out hearts

Our lives are like that misty rose
Pain is left behind when part of us goes
But the rose again gleams in visions door
As new petals replace those parted before

Life then continues and joys are replaced
We start the morn having never it faced
Today we are born and yesterday was never
We start this morning choosing our forever

The past only guides our new dawning day
Sad memories are gone and joy has its way
Things we had wanted are still yet to be
For we were just born today you and me

Today I shall dance and play in the wind
Perhaps go and visit my dear little friend
Or sit in the lap of my Mother so dear
For the stories and nursery rhymes to hear

Tomorrow begins my first year of school
My food in the lunch pail to keep it cool
Mom waving goodbye as I run up the walk
In class the teacher writing her name in chalk

Today I graduate and smile with a friend
This part of my life has now found an end
With gowns flowing softly and caps in air
We end this part of our life with a flair

Tomorrow to college I go with a tear
Not for the school but my parents dear
I shall miss them both as I journey anew
From cradle to the world, how shall I do

Today I graduate from college with glee
Mom and dad smiling at the baby they see
With laughter and tears we part once more
We end this part of life and close visions door

Tomorrow down the aisle with wedding gown glowing
Tears and smiles from mom and dad flowing
From baby to woman a new phase of endeavor
As I cling to the hand of my partner forever

Today I smile as I cuddle my newborn rose
Smiling and looking over that cute little nose
A cycle completed from whence I had started
Another new life from that which had parted

Tomorrow I will wake to the early morn
And know that a new rose will have been born
The petal once fallen will be once more
As I peek through the pane of visions door
