Oct. 23, 2005 A few centuries ago Europe cleaned out it’s riff_raff by sending them to the New World. Some of you may be able to relate it to Castro sending his Cuban malcontents to America a few years back. It’s been good for America and even better for Europe. Europe has benefited from the worlds greatest producers. Considering those malcontents were the best and the brightest Europe had to offer. America became the first true democracy by the people, for the people in the world. Something the rest of the civilized world has struggled to accomplish ever since. Those arrogant, know-it-all Americans lead the world in technology, productivity, generosity, and hospitality. Oh and I nearly forgot security for the world. Europe hasn’t had their soldiers standing a post in America protecting it from Mexico and Canada for the past 60 years. American Soldiers have been stationed in Europe protecting them from each other for the past half century [plus.] No European soldier has been buried in American soil since the war of 1812. American soldiers have spent over half a century standing between aggressors and those unwilling to stand up for their own freedoms. Consider European history, it’s loaded with failure. The Spanish Armada off the coast of Ireland, Napoleons defeat at Moscow, The British defeat at Yorktown, and later New Orleans, the Nazis occupation of Europe. Even in the French Revelation, both sides lost. [I would have included Holland but I can’t recall a time when they haven’t acquiesced in the face of danger] Not a colorful history is it? The beauty of America is we are a sharing people, when we develop a new technology, we’re quick to pass it on to the world either free of charge or at a nominal cost. I’m speaking of the internet. It was recently pointed out it was actually a men from Switzerland who invented the internet. That claim is of course ridiculous. The internet was created through the evolutionary process of technology. No one person can claim the internet as his or her own. The internet like American radio and television are free for the taking. Only the extra goodies cost money. This brings me to the point of this article, The American created internet is free to the world. We welcome input from anyone, anywhere. This includes those who wish to tell us how ignorant we are. Those who wish to challenge our President and our politics. Is it because their own politics is so boring there’s nothing to get excited about. Is it because their countries are so boring there’s nothing to get excited about. I live across the river from one of the most boring countries in the world. About the only thing they get excited about is the National Hockey scores. There’re a number of contributors to this web_site from other countries. We welcome them, we probably wouldn’t know or care who they are except for the occasional hint they give as to their origins. We accept their criticism, usually without comment. When one dares to criticize them or their country, all hell breaks loose. I get e-mails from people in many countries, most telling me how America is an aggressor who keeps the world on edge. Never a word of how we keep the true aggressors at bay. They never say thank_you for saving their as**s in the past. When I point out what Americas did too save them, they reluctantly admit it has, and then add “but what have you done lately”. Without the malcontent American riff_raff the world could very well be enslaved today. Perhaps it’s not the Americans who’re the malcontents after all. Could it be the Europeans who must rely on American riff_raff for most of what they live on and off of? Could it be a jealously they recognize and can’t control? Whatever, I doubt most Americans will notice or care. We’re above the European pettiness. To my critics, the Dutch, Canadians, British, Australians, etc. I say keep it coming as a proud American I thrive on your descent. ------------ About the author: Ken Hughes joined the Republican Party at the age of three.
