Oct. 15, 2005 Although there many persons among us who have managed to find that special some one through an online dating website, some of us are not as fortunate. Say, you sign up for that online dating site including such pertinent information such as your photo, the more recent the better, along with your likes, dislikes and so on. And say one day while perusing the list of suitable applicants, you happen to find some one whom you think you would at least like to acquaint yourself with, so you send him/her an email and wait. What ensues after is a quick exchange of those e-letters or instant messaging sessions, after which you decide that you would like to go out with the individual whom you have not seen face to face or in person yet. And the big day of the date arrives, with you humming a happy tune as you go about the business of your day, secretly hoping that the person you will later meet turns out to be the special some one for whom you have been searching. Say you arrive at the designated meeting spot, and as you look around for that face you saw on the dating website, you see some one who fits a close resemblance and he/she spots you too. So you approach the individual with a curious look in your eye, and begin chatting. And it is somewhere along the line of the conversation that the individual tells you in a rather nonchalant manner that the photo he/she placed on the website was about fifteen years old. As the horror of his/her deception settles itself in your mind, you want to get up and walk out of the establishment since you now feel as if you have no real reason to linger. For if you manage to hang around, you might be also thinking that everything else this person could be telling you may consist of untruths. Internet dating is fine for those who are too shy or do not have the time to socialise, and if you have been fortunate enough to find that special some one online, recent photo included, good. Just for the record, that photo that appears at the top of each of my articles and on my website is only a few months old, in case some of you were, you know, wondering, and I still look pretty much like that today. ------------ About the author Judy Ramsook: My first book titled: "Karen's Adventure" which is about two young girls who go in search of their missing parents, is now available.
