Oct. 9, 2005 When you wake up in the morning and step outside to pick up your copy of the daily or weekend edition of the newspaper, and you glance at your front lawn with pride, don’t you feel good knowing that you are capable of such work, especially if you did the bit of landscaping yourself with the help of a couple of your friends, that is. So you shopped around for a reputable landscaper and realised that with all the expense you would have accumulated by the time you purchase the necessary material needed for the project, you know, the special type of dirt you would have to lay down after digging up or pulling out the weeds, lawn bags in which to dispose of the unwanted grass, gardening tools, and of course the new, good type of grass such as the St. Augustine type, you can try to do it yourself since you have participated in this type of work before. And say you, with the aid of your friends manage to do all the right landscaping things you are supposed to do, with the neighbours curiously passing by, saying hello or waving, and probably wondering, what are they doing? And say the most difficult part of the project that will make your lawn look even more beautiful is over; the pulling out of those unwanted weeds and laying down freash dirt, that is. So here comes the final part, ordering and waiting for the new batch of grass that will ultimately enhance that front lawn. And since the final part of the project is weighing on your mind in great anticipation of the new grass, you wait. The first day goes by and the grass delivery people tell you that your order will be there the next day. So you go along the business of the day and wait for tomorrow. So the next day comes and there is yet another delay of your order. And by the fourth day, in frustration, you give the the delivery people an ultimatum, which is, if the new St. Augustine batch of grass is not at your house by a certain time, to cancel the entire order. The hours go by and before the day is over, finally, after waiting almost a week, your batch of grass is delivered, with the delivery guy greeting you with, are you ready for some grass, Miss? But it is not until he drives away after placing the pallets of St. Augustine grass on your driveway that the gist of his remark takes hold of you, and you chuckle to yourself as you set abut the business of laying down the fresh bit of grass that will enhance your lawn. ------------ About the author Judy Ramsook: My first book titled: "Karen's Adventure" which is about two young girls who go in search of their missing parents, is now available.
