More Light For More Of The World

By John L. Waters
Oct. 6, 2005

Since I started writing for Useless Knowledge Magazine in May of this year I've been warned by a number of skeptics that my proposing to people that they check out sungazers Hira Ratan Manek, Vinny Pinto, and other prominent alternative healers, that my informal promotions are likely to seduce gullible persons into trying some unproven alternative medical treatment and avoid seeking professional medical help.

Some of these skeptics have been quite angry in their words, and strong accusations have been made against me. I will continue to respond to such strong negatives with more strong positives.

First of all, I am not promoting myself as a medical expert, nor am I advising anyone to become a sungazer. I am simply calling people's attention to the Light of the World, which has been worshipped in ages past and whom certain persons have even to have been descended from and therefore worthy of worship. All this confusion has caused no end of trouble.

Sunlight is already admittedly the primary source of energy for human beings. Green plants require sunlight to produce their own body mass, and do all the other things plants do, including hold the soil, enrich the soil, provide building materials, etcetera, not to mention breatheable oxygenated air, cool shade, and essential windbreaks. Add to that natural medicines and food, and you've pretty much defined what supports all human life on the Planet.

For millennia, plants provided medicine freely for the taking. Today herbal medicine and more refined chemical medicine is sold at increasingly high prices that poor people simply can't afford. Scientist-skeptics, therefore, are waging a losing battle against the alternative healers who come in and help poor people without requiring high payment. Many of these healers are seen as angels of mercy. Some such healers come only in dreams or in visions and they provide remedies for the sick that real humans can't provide.

Healings that professional medical doctors can't explain are termed "spontaneous remissions" by them and considered miraculous by those who are healed and/or their family and beloved friends. Without any clear explanations, however, these "miracles" cannot be multiplied. Poverty and miracles, then, prepare humanity for the next great step forward in medical science. You shall know the TRUTH (about science) and the TRUTH shall make you FREE.

Skeptics want proof. Proof will come as more scientists test the messianic method.

I well might be a false prophet. How can the scientist-skeptics tell whether I am a false prophet or a true prophet? They've got to TEST the messianic method.

Well the scientist-skeptics have the expensive training and the lucrative funding to pay lots of poor people to run self-tests. The professional scientists know how to fill out the grant applications, how to write in the fancy lingo, and how to set up the definitive experiments that have no built-in bias. Many professional scientists have studied all this stuff for decades, and they are even now, still wanting to know the TRUTH, not just satisfy their own egoes or fatten their own pocketbooks. Admittedly, many scientists are definitely consensus-driven. They wouldn't dare Rock the Boat.

Right now scientific faddism is promoting the Sun as a Demon up in the sky. Hey. Past cultures worshipped the Sun as God! History presents such flip-flop faddisms. Science sets the record straight and levels the playing field. This method might work better for dark-skinned people living where there's lots of sunshine. On the other hand, we'll never know until large numbers of people in different parts of the world test this method.

Just as there were "experts" who frightened people so they were afraid to ride in the first steam-driven railroad trains, there were "experts" who said if you sail far enough you will fall off the edge of the Earth! There were "experts" who said that if you look through the "Devil's Instrument," you will surely be tricked into seeing what Galileo saw. There have always been "expert" doomsayers and naysayers. So let the positive TRUTH-oriented scientists come forward and get funding to test this alternative healing method.

As long as skeptics write to me, or write articles calling people's attention to any failure in my language, or any possible harm that might come from sick people trying some unproven method like Christian Science, ear candling, or solar therapy, the more I will write in support of progress in science both medical and otherwise. Many new ideas don't pan out, but science can't advance without new ideas. The new ideas simply have to be tested.

Science is not literary art. How good a talker or writer I am makes no difference as far as whether I am doing science or not. I might be a fine talker or a fine writer, but make no contribution to science at all. On the other hand, I might be quite illiterate yet still make a contribution to science. Talents differ and scientific talent is not talent in fine writing or persuasive speaking.

I grew up being told, for example, that I would "go blind" if I looked at the sun. My mother in fact was blinded at age eleven by looking at the sun during a total eclipse in Omaha Nebraska. For several days she could see nothing. For the rest of her life she had no foveal vision. So it took a certain amount of courage for me to become a sungazer. It took a certain willingness to be an independent thinker.

Honestly, I totally respect scientists and medical doctors, and a number of times I was helped by medical doctors! Heck, my life has been saved four or more times by medical doctors!! I also loved my mother and helped her many times. But I also am capable of intuition, insight, and independent thought. I also showed talent in science, even as a boy.

Because I've said some things bluntly, and not been adroit with words, a number of lucid and literate skeptics have tried to bully me, and get me to admit this or that, and I do admit that I'm not very adept at fine argument. I grew up with autism. To experct such a person to become a lawyer, or a philosopher, or even a professional medical doctor is simply not realistic. But still a person who has residual autism can be talented in science. I think Michael Faraday couldn't even read. He didn't know mathematics, anyway. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I also admit that sometimes I say something or write something without doing much "research" to be sure I am right. For example, in saying Michael Faraday was illiterate. I know Faraday drew lines of force by intuition or feel, rather than work with mathematical equations. He was a scientific genius, not a literary genius...unlike Darwin, who had to be a genius in exposition to get his revolutionary idea across.

Anyway, as far as my self-healing treatment goes, from 1963 on necessity was the mother of invention, and I'm very grateful that I had enough talent to save my own life and help my own mother survive as well. I also have helped other people by using my own nonverbal, nonrational "autistic savant" wits. As for "proving it" by logic, well doesn't logical argument require words? My own cognitive calculus, the "autistic savant" cognitive means I use when I am REALLY put on the spot, does not require words. Sometimes I do produce words, as Pentecostals do when they "sense God" and "speak in tongues." I've had to refine that "divine" technique to speak and write. Hey. My brain development simply was unusual.

Skeptics are welcome to come and see me using my cognitive calculus, but without a film-maker I can't show on the Internet that calculus being used.

In the meantime, here at U-K, you will just have to do with my sometimes dubious U-K writing style.
