Is The Light Of The World Good Or Bad?

By John L. Waters
Oct. 4, 2005

Without stopping to reflect, U-K writer Matt Dillahunty as asked me by email to "Please, just stop." Matt didn't specify exactly what he wants me to stop. The man apparently was upset by my article about medical doctors not being totally convincing about the relationship between sunlight and skin cancer, and so he sent me a link that "proves" to his estimation that sunlight "causes" skin cancer. I provide Matt's medical link near the end of this paper. I also provide another link that helps me make my point.

I want to emphasize that I do not recommend that you try either sunbathing or sungazing. This article is not a promotion of sunbathing or sungazing. This article promotes juggling and balancing all the factors in an orderly fashion without flying off the handle. We definitely do not want to stop that!

Furthermore, as a special warning, note that during a total solar eclipse the whole disk of the sun is obscured by the Moon and all around it gets dark. That is definitely the worst time ever to look at the sun because the corona of the sun isn't covered up by the Moon and the corona of the sun is giving off intense ultraviolet light that can rapidly blind the viewer because the viewer's pupils are dilated in response to the darkness. Even experienced sungazers who look at the sun for ten minutes or more at a time know not to look at the sun during a total solar eclipse.

That having been said, in 1978 as a psychic-intuitive I intuited that exposing my skin and my eyes to the "Light of the World" would give me the healing "Christ" that other mystics have sensed as they exposed themselves to bright daylight and particular to gazing at reflected sunlight off a shiny surface. For example the mystics Jakob Boehme and Barry Stevens did this and their lives were profoundly affected. I met two local persons who discovered a similar effect of gazing at the sun or at reflections of the sun.

In my case I was sick in different ways and the medical doctors weren't able to cure me. I conceived of directly accessing the healing "Christ" for a cure, and the method worked. This cure led to a gradual recovery from several chronic disorders, including being too inarticulate and/or too shy to speak up with an opinion. Maybe I just needed a heck of a lot more vitamin D.

Now I speak up with my opinion by posting articles on the Internet and by giving personal demonstrations and presentations. My writing is not always the best and my opinions are not always the best, but at least I'm feeling free to be honest with you as honest I can be. I'm not quite so shy anymore.

My approach now is to give you SIX web links about how horrible it can be to gaze at the sun and/or sunbathe, and six web links about how wonderful it can be to sunbathe and/or sungaze. Then you can explore and do more research to your heart's content. This also will disprove Matt's assertion that "John Waters doesn't ever do any research before he writes."

I'll admit that I tossed off a lot of articles last week. Sometimes I let ideas and words fly a bit too fast, and it's good that someone like Matt braces me up a bit. Over-reaction, however, is also part of Matt's game.

Sunshine is definitely harmful to unusually blond or red-headed persons who can't tan. Persons who are darker in complexion are not as vulnerable, but they, too, can get skin cancer. I'm just not convinced that fumes in the air, and chemicals in clothing and in foods, and chemicals from other sources can't irritate the skin and work synergistically with sunshine and with other factors to start a skin cancer. Then there's genetic predisposition, vitamins, and other subtle factors.

When I wrote that there is no proof that sunlight "causes" skin cancer, I was thinking about being the sole cause or the main cause. I am accustomed to using the word "cause" to mean the "sole" cause, as when I switch off the light, my flipping the switch "caused" the light to go off.

Apparently medical doctors can say "sunlight causes cancer" when several other factors are also contributing to the cancer. Matt attacked my article with this idea in mind. He gave me a link to a website where doctors are using the word "cause" in this way. That's okay with me. I pass this link on to you.

In this article I just want to illustrate the messianic rule of balancing, so that to balance six negative opinions about sunshine on the body and/or in the eyes, I give six positive opinions about sunshine on the body and/or in the eyes. Then it is up to you, the reader, to juggle these balls and keep them in motion for awhile, hoping you won't give up too soon and break the messianic rule of balance and integration of opposing movements and/or points of view. (The rule is messianic because the enemies do not seek to defeat one another or kill one another. Peace prevails.)

Okay. So here are six websites which promote sungazing and/or sunlight on the body. Realize, of course, that when you sungaze you are exposing the skin on your face to sunlight.

1. CON Dangers of sunlight- Read what conventional American Medics have to say here.

2. PRO Benefits of sunlight- Read what Oliver Gillie has to say here.

I tell you what. You yourself can use Google and get at least five more websites promoting sungazing, including websites promoting Hira Ratan Manek, Sunyogi Umasankar, and others. Don't forget Vinny Pinto's website on sungazing. You can also find five more websites warning you not to look at the sun or sunbathe, and venture out and about looking something like a mummy.

At the very least study carefully the two websites I've given you.

Feel free to send me more websites relevant to this debate-spinning controversy.

BOTH sides make valid points.
